LifestyleCSRBYD Cars PH turns Pink Seagull sales into PHP770K for cancer patients

A Seashell Pink Seagull electric hatchback turned out to be more than a color variant. BYD Cars Philippines, operating under ACMobility, formally handed over a PHP770,000 donation to the Healthway Foundation’s Cancer Care Hope Fund on April 14, 2026, at the Healthway Cancer Care Hospital in Manila. The funds were generated entirely through the sale of the limited-edition BYD Seagull in Seashell Pink, a campaign that quietly exceeded its own goals.

Launched in July 2025 with a target of 70 units sold, the campaign closed with 77 Pink Seagulls finding homes, each purchase contributing directly to the Cancer Care Hope Fund. The fund supports Filipino cancer patients at Healthway Cancer Care Hospital, the country’s first dedicated cancer specialty facility, helping offset the financial burden that often accompanies long-term treatment.

Care beyond the showroom floor

Bob Palanca, managing director of BYD Cars Philippines, framed the campaign as an expression of what ACMobility calls malasakit, a sense of genuine concern for the communities the company operates in. “It is about going beyond what is expected and finding ways to create a positive impact in the communities we serve,” Palanca said during the turnover ceremony.

Jef Peeters, president and CEO of Healthway Medical Network, said the donation directly extends the hospital’s philosophy of treating patients as whole people rather than cases. “Cancer care goes beyond treatment. It is about caring for the whole patient, including the emotional, financial, and social challenges that come with the journey,” Peeters said. “Through the Cancer Care Hope Fund, this contribution allows us to extend that care beyond cure, helping more Filipino patients access timely treatment while easing the burden on their families.”

Why a pink Seagull?

The BYD Seagull is one of BYD’s most accessible entry points into electric mobility, and the Seashell Pink variant was positioned by BYD Cars Philippines as a choice for a new generation of drivers redefining what car ownership looks like. Tying it to a healthcare cause gave the limited run a purpose beyond aesthetics, and the response from buyers validated the approach.

The Healthway Cancer Care Hospital, which received the donation, is a first-of-its-kind facility in the Philippines dedicated solely to cancer care. The Cancer Care Hope Fund, which it manages, helps patients navigate the financial side of treatment, which can be as overwhelming as the medical side for many Filipino families.

A model worth repeating

For BYD Cars Philippines and its parent company, ACMobility, an Ayala Group subsidiary, the campaign serves as a model of what cause-driven product launches can look like in the automotive space. Pairing a commercially viable limited edition with a clearly defined charitable outcome created a loop where buying a car had a direct, traceable benefit for someone else.

Whether BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility plan similar campaigns going forward was not announced at the turnover event, but the numbers suggest the formula works. Seventy-seven units sold, PHP770,000 raised, and a target exceeded: a clean outcome for both the business and the cause.
