Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of the Caltex brand of fuels and lubricants, and Chevron Holdings Inc. (CHI) recently donated nearly PHP 1.5 million to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and Ateneo de Manila University’s Tanging Yaman Foundation Inc. (TYF) to support their relief efforts for the families greatly affected by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.

CPI and CHI each donated PHP 500,000 to PRC making a total of PHP 1 million worth of donation, which was used to purchase relief items, finance operational costs, and provide cash grants for livelihood and shelter repair.

“We’re immensely thankful to Chevron for their donation. They have always been generous in aiding relief efforts for typhoon victims. This donation will be a great help in rebuilding the affected communities,” shared PRC secretary-general Elizabeth Zavalla.

“Chevron has always been committed to contributing to relief efforts for victims of natural disasters. We make our donations in hopes of improving the quality of life of the communities where we operate, and we trust that in the hands of PRC this support will be put to good use,” added CHI general manager Steve Callaghan.

CPI and CHI regularly donate to the PRC as the organization has a bigger network to carry out large-scale relief operations. Earlier this year, CPI reached out to PRC to help provide relief for the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption.

Subsequently, CPI donated its Christmas party budget for this year, amounting to PHP 431,000 in support of TYF’s disaster relief efforts for families affected by the recent typhoons.

“We truly appreciate Chevron’s effort to channel their Christmas party budget into a worthy cause. Their donation will surely make Christmas merrier for typhoon-ravaged communities,” said TYF founder and chairman Fr. Manoling V. Francisco, SJ.

“We saw the devastating aftermath of Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses, and our heart goes out to the victims. We hope these donations will be able to help the affected communities get back on their feet,” added CPI general manager and country chairman Billy Liu.

Aside from the official donations, CPI and CHI invited its employees to make personal donations to the PRC and the Kaya Natin Movement, a local non-partisan, non-government organization that advocates for good governance and leadership with integrity.
