The Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) Quezon City College of Education is offering an enhanced 18-unit Teaching Certificate Program (TCP) beginning with the 2021 Summer Term on June 25, 2021. This pioneering post-baccalaureate program is intended to hone the skills and competencies of basic education and college teachers in online and flexible teaching and learning. It is also open to non-education degree holders who wish to qualify for the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).
The fully online program will have its first run starting June 25 through September 17, 2021, a total of 12 weeks to complete the required 18 units. It is facilitated by a team of specialists in teacher education and online outcomes-based teaching and learning. Fittingly, the T.I.P. TCP is delivered via the T.I.P. Canvas Learning Management System, the official online learning platform of the institution.
“One of the objectives of the enhanced T.I.P. TCP is to help ensure educational continuity in this new normal. The current and future teachers across the elementary, secondary, and tertiary levels need to be properly trained for remote teaching and learning so that education is optimally supported during and beyond this pandemic,” said T.I.P. president Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz.
Specifically, the coursework includes: (1) Philosophical and Historical Foundations of Education Including Online and Flexible Learning; (2) Principles and Strategies of Teaching with Focus on Online and Flexible Learning; (3) Preparation of Instructional Materials for Online and Flexible Learning; (4) Curriculum Development with Focus on Online and Flexible Learning; (5) Student Learning Assessment Utilizing Online and Flexible Assessment Tools; and (6) Facilitating Learning Using Online and Flexible Learning Tools.
“To make it convenient for our students, who are composed of working professionals, the online classes are set at 3 times a week and scheduled only after office hours. The days of the week shall be calendared based on the convenience of both the students and the teacher,” said T.I.P. Quezon City vice president for Academic Affairs Dr. Cynthia Llanes.
Enrollment is ongoing and T.I.P. is offering an early bird discount for those enrolling on or before May 31, 2021. Graduates of architecture, arts, business, computing, engineering, law, medical and allied health science programs, and any baccalaureate program are welcome to enroll.
