    As a staunch supporter of young Filipino talent in engineering, Honeywell recently awarded three  Mapua Institue of Technology Chemical Engineering Majors with a much-deserved scholarship. The scholarship grant includes an internship opportunity at the U.S. research and development campus of Honeywell and financial support worth USD 1500.

    Known to be a global leader in refining and petrochemical technology, the U.S. research and development campus of Honeywell will host the internship program of five select Honeywell scholars from the Philippines, Vietnam, and Myanmar. Though direct participation and channeled collaboration, interns will be given the opportunity to further hone their skills in the area of engineering. One of the three Honeywell Mapua student scholars will be chosen for the internship abroad.

    “We’re very excited to extend the scholarship program in The Philippines to augment the country’s growth by supporting its talented students in their pursuit of education in chemical engineering,” said Jim Rekoske, vice president and chief technology officer of Honeywell UOP. “Working with leading university in The Philippines, our program invests in the next generation of the country’s scientific and research talent, which will benefit its refining, gas processing, and petrochemical industries for many years.”

    Along with the scholarship and internship opportunities, Honeywell UOP also holds annual petrochemical lecture series in leading universities in Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. According to Honeywell, the lectures are aimed at building on a greater pool of talent in the area of chemical engineering.
