Yamaha Motor Philippines is pushing automatic motorcycle technology forward with the Yamaha Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (YECVT)—a breakthrough system designed to give riders greater control, responsiveness, and adaptability on the road. Unlike conventional automatic transmissions, YECVT introduces a new riding experience that allows seamless transitions between smooth cruising and performance-focused acceleration.
Now featured on the NMAX Tech MAX and Aerox SP, YECVT was recently put to the test through a series of immersive riding events that demonstrated how the technology performs across both real-world touring and high-intensity track environments.
Touring with the NMAX Tech MAX
On November 23, 2025, Yamaha riders took the NMAX Tech MAX on a scenic ride from Pico de Loro to Kaybiang Tunnel, a route known for its winding roads, elevation changes, and long uphill stretches. The ride showcased how YECVT adapts to varied terrain, delivering quick throttle response through curves and smooth, consistent acceleration on climbs.

Riders experienced how the system enhances stability and confidence, making it easier to maintain control across changing road conditions. The touring activity highlighted YECVT’s ability to balance refinement and power—ideal for everyday commuting as well as longer leisure rides.
Pushing the Aerox SP at the Track
The performance side of YECVT took center stage on November 29, 2025, during the Aerox Track Day at Carmona Race Track. In a controlled racing environment, riders pushed the Aerox SP to its limits, exploring how YECVT responds under aggressive riding conditions.

On track, participants noted quicker and more linear acceleration when exiting corners, improved throttle precision, and consistent power delivery at higher RPMs. These characteristics translated to better control and confidence at speed, proving that YECVT is not only built for daily riding but also excels under demanding, sport-oriented scenarios.
One Technology, Two Riding Personalities
The two events underscored YECVT’s versatility across Yamaha’s scooter lineup. On the NMAX Tech MAX, the system emphasizes smoothness, stability, and efficiency. On the Aerox SP, it shifts into a more aggressive character—delivering sharper response and performance-focused behavior.

This adaptability allows riders to experience different riding personalities, all powered by a single transmission technology designed to respond intuitively to rider input.
Redefining Automatic Mobility
Through these experiential activities, Yamaha demonstrated that YECVT is more than a technical upgrade—it’s a meaningful evolution in how automatic motorcycles feel and perform. By combining electronic precision with rider intuition, YECVT delivers versatility, reliability, and excitement across every ride, whether on city streets, open highways, or the racetrack.
