It was a week full of blazing opportunities as the UPLB Career Assistance Program (UPLB CAP) held its third installment of its Career Fair last April 22-25, 2024 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
Established in 2020, UPLB CAP is a non-profit, socio-civic organization that aims to empower individuals and help them become career-ready individuals. With this year’s theme “Rising Beyond Boundaries”, Career Fair 2024 helped UPLB CAP fulfill its mission to bridge opportunities from professional institutions to UPLB students.
Before the main event, the organization introduced itself to UPLB students with a weeklong Pre-Exhibit at the Molawin Hall of the Student Union Building, from April 15-19, 2024. The Pre-Exhibit also toured around the campus to reach more students and invite them to attend the events lined up for Career Fair 2024.
The following Monday, April 22, all systems lifted off in the two-day Company Talks. The first session, held virtually via Zoom, was attended by about 180 students, who were able to learn about opportunities from the organization’s gold and silver company partners.
For the face-to-face session last April 23, students also flocked to the REDREC Auditorium to listen to representatives from Seven Seven Global Services Inc., UPLB CAP’s co-presenter for the year, along with the Career Fair’s platinum company partners.
Over the next two days, more than 1,400 college students, fresh graduates, and job seekers filled the historic Baker Memorial Hall for the Company Exhibits. With booths from UPLB CAP’s more than 30 company partners, employment and internship opportunities were available for the attendees.
Aside from the interactive and up-close experience with the partner companies afforded by the Company Exhibits, the attendees also went home with UPLB CAP loot bags, freebies from participating companies, and a photo booth to save memories from the event.
However, it’s not yet over as UPLB CAP continues the Career Fair fever with its CAPanalo Raffle. For only PHP20 a ticket, lucky participants could win a brand new Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE. Other prizes up for grabs include three sets of L’Oréal Paris products worth PHP5,000 each; 1 winner of UPLB CAP merchandise, and 5 winners of PHP100 worth of GCash.
