They ate, they mothered, they fought, and they conquered. Women have continuously reshaped industries, challenged norms, and led revolutions. March is not just another month; it’s a celebration of resilience, power, and the undeniable influence of women across all sectors of society. As Women’s Month continues to inspire change, the University of the Philippines Los Baños Economics Society (UPLB ECONSOC), the premier academic organization for BS Economics students, proudly presents the fourth installment of Deconstruct entitled “Pak! Para Sa SHEkonomiya: Ang Kwento at Kwenta ng Kababaihan sa Lipunan” set at March 22, 2025, via Zoom and Facebook livestream.
This event aims to deconstruct critical societal issues through the lens of gender, shedding light on the diverse roles women play in the economy as youth leaders, politicians, financial experts, and public analysts. By fostering a deeper understanding of women’s economic influence, Deconstruct IV seeks to spark meaningful discourse and inspire young Filipinos to strive for gender equality in their respective fields.
The Need for Empowerment
In a world where gender disparities still persist, empowering women remains an urgent necessity. Despite strides in gender equality, women continue to face barriers in professional growth, wage equity, and leadership opportunities. In politics, the voices of women are often underrepresented, even as they advocate for policies that uplift entire communities. In finance and economics, women’s contributions drive significant change, yet they encounter systemic biases that limit their potential.
Empowering women in these sectors is not just a matter of fairness it is a crucial step toward a more inclusive and progressive society. When women are given equal opportunities, economies thrive, governance improves, and communities become more resilient. Through Deconstruct IV, UPLB ECONSOC is taking a step in amplifying these conversations, ensuring that the stories and struggles of women are not only heard but acted upon.
