Google has introduced AI-powered shopping features in the Gemini app for users in the Philippines, expanding the chatbot’s capabilities beyond information retrieval to help consumers research, compare, and discover products using natural language conversations.
The new shopping experience allows users to describe what they are looking for as they would when speaking to another person, with Gemini generating product recommendations, comparison tables, pricing information, reviews, and links to retailers within a single chat.
Shopping Through Conversation
Instead of searching across multiple websites, users can ask Gemini for recommendations based on their preferences, budget, or intended use.
For example, someone searching for a birthday gift within a specific budget can receive product suggestions displayed in a visual carousel, while shoppers comparing products such as luggage or backpacks can view side-by-side comparison tables highlighting specifications including dimensions, weight, and other relevant details.
The responses are tailored to each query, making it easier to narrow down choices before making a purchase.
Powered by Google’s Shopping Graph
The shopping experience is built on Google’s Shopping Graph, which the company says contains more than 60 billion product listings, with approximately two billion listings updated every hour.
By combining Gemini’s conversational AI with Shopping Graph data, Google aims to provide current pricing, retailer information, product availability, and reviews from across the web within a single interface.
