Audi Philippines has launched the award-winning 2020 Audi Q3.
The all-new Q3 is an all-around SUV that’s spacious, versatile and packed with technology. It looks sportier than its predecessor, having rigid surfaces and sharp edges that radiate power. As with the other new Audi SUV models, the latest Q3 has a wide Singleframe grille with an octagonal design surrounded by a sturdy frame and supported by sharp LED headlights which taper inwards.
“In its second-generation form, the Audi Q3 appears not only visually more confident, but is also roomier and more versatile. It has great all-around talents,” said Audi Philippines head Benedicto Coyiuto. “The all-new Q3’s introduction definitely strengthens our position in the country’s luxury SUV segment. We are quite excited to have this model in our lineup.”
Highlighting the side view of the all-new Q3 are the symmetrical graphics of the headlights and rear lights. The shoulder line connects these elements and provides an athletic overall impression. The vehicle’s wheel arches and sculpted rear is divided into two zones by a horizontal line and L-shaped rear lights in the upper section, improving visibility.
The all-new Q3 has grown in virtually all dimensions and is positioned in the upper SUV segment. At 4,484 millimeters, it is 96 millimeters longer than its predecessor. Its width has grown by 18 millimeters, or to 1,849 millimeters—the widest in its segment. At 1,585 millimeters (without a roof antenna), it is five millimeters shorter. It is also more spacious than before because its wheelbase has extended by 77 millimeters, or to a total of 2,680 millimeters.
The interior design of the all-new Q3 continues the dynamic look defining its exterior. The architecture of the dashboard echoes that of Audi’s parent-class models as it also harmonizes with the digital operating concept. Just like in Audi’s top-of-the-line models, the all-new Q3 features the Audi Virtual Cockpit and a 10.1-inch MMI touch display which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Numerous infotainment solutions from the full-size segment connect the compact SUV with its environment.
Its central element is the MMI touch display, which is almost imperceptible against the high-gloss black glass-look surround when it is in a deactivated state. With an octagonal shape, it echoes the motif of the Singleframe grille, and is bordered by a wide chrome strip. The driver can call up to two different views on the screen, including a “dynamic” screen where the engine and road speed can be seen in square instruments which have red graphical elements.
The luggage compartment has also substantially benefitted from the increase in size of the all-new Q3—it is the largest in the segment with a total capacity of 675 liters. When the backrests are folded down the figure rises to 1,525 liters. The electric tailgate provides effortless access to the luggage compartment. In conjunction with the convenience key, the driver can also open and close it with a kicking motion.
Powering the all-new Q3 is a 1.4-liter, inline-four, turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed, S tronic dual-clutch transmission. The combination allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds, and on to a top speed of 220 km/h. The all-new Q3’s array of safety features and driver assistance systems include electronic stability control, electromechanical power steering, hold assist, hill descent control, park assist with parking aid plus and a rear-view camera.
The second-generation, all-new Q3 offers bumper-to-bumper safety as it has achieved a five-star rating in the Euro New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), one of the most important automobile safety tests in Europe. The model has succeeded in the following categories: adult occupant protection, child safety, passenger protection and vulnerable road user protection. Aside from the NCAP, the all-new Q3 has also acquired the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick Plus rating, where it scored “Good”, the highest rating a car can achieve, in all crashworthiness tests. The Q3 has also won Readers’ Choice of “Best Cars 2019” by German technical magazine Auto Motor und Sport.
