It’s the last day of International Women’s Month, and I just couldn’t let it go by without sharing my thoughts about how the Ford Territory is a perfect vehicle to help women drivers #BreakTheBias. SUVs are often associated with being aggressive, muscular, dominant — adjectives deemed more masculine. And indeed, the Ford Territory exudes a bold and confident stance, that’s just right for 21st-century females untethered from gender expectations.

Although categorized as a small SUV, the Ford Territory is a good-sized 5-seater that will not be intimidated by bigger vehicles on the road. And while its 1.5L EcoBoost engine is more compact, it is not lacking in power. It gamely took on the drive up to Antipolo and Taytay, tackling the winding uphill roads with ease, and never hesitating even on the steepest climbs. Its continuously variable transmission occasionally searched for the right gear especially when caught in slow traffic, but hits its stride easily on the open road. And the automatic engine brake when driving downhill was definitely reassuring.

Speaking of safety, the Ford Territory is packed with a suite of advanced technologies that have been thoughtfully considered — in particular, I love its 360-degree around-view monitor, so there are no blind spots. Plus, let me just enumerate all the other techie stuff that’s packed into this smart SUV: active park assist, adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, electronic stability control, traction control, parking sensors, hill launch assist, and even tire pressure monitoring. Now, with all that smart stuff in the Ford Territory, you can be as fun and fearless as you dare to be.

Other tech stuff that I loved about the Ford Territory were its 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay (and Android Auto) compatibility, USB ports (four!), and wireless charging. Having Waze on the large display instead of on my phone’s screen was a big plus, too!

Lastly, its comfort and convenience features totally elevate the Ford Territory beyond expectations. Imagine being able to “cool” your seat on a hot summer day, or conversely “heat” it up for warmth on rainy days. That, to me, is the ultimate comfort, particularly on long drives or when you’re caught in traffic.

Spending time with the Ford Territory and driving up to enjoy the hills of Antipolo and Taytay, with a stop for a soothing spa massage at a mountain resort was a great way of celebrating International Women’s Month while also reaffirming that it’s about time to #BreakTheBias.
