At this year’s Manila International Auto Show, MG Motor Philippines presented a broad view of where its mobility strategy was headed. The brand’s “Next Wave” direction encompassed internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric models, reflecting a lineup designed to meet a wide range of driving needs.
At the center of the showcase were three key vehicles that define this direction: the new MG5 Prestige, the G50 PHEV, and the Cyberster, each representing a different approach to modern mobility.
The Everyday Sedan: MG5 Prestige

The MG5 Prestige anchors the lineup as a practical, everyday sedan with a more refined and feature-rich approach. Designed for daily commutes and family use, it combines space, technology, and value in a compact package.
Under the hood is a 1.5-liter DVVT gasoline engine paired with a CVT, producing 110PS and 142Nm of torque while meeting Euro VI emission standards. The focus here is balance, delivering smooth, efficient performance suited to city driving and longer trips.
Inside, the MG5 emphasizes comfort and connectivity. A 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto sits at the center of the dashboard, complemented by rear air-conditioning vents and USB ports for passenger convenience. With a 512-liter trunk capacity and a spacious cabin, the MG5 continues to prioritize practicality, while features such as projector LED headlights, a power sunroof, cruise control, and a reverse camera add a more premium feel to the segment.
Priced at PHP 888,888, the MG5 Prestige positions itself as a value-driven sedan with features typically found in higher segments.
The Electrified Family Mover: MG G50 PHEV

For families looking to transition to electric driving, the G50 PHEV offers a more flexible solution. Built as a plug-in hybrid MPV, it combines electric driving capability with long-distance practicality.
Its 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission produces a combined output of 299PS and 280Nm of torque, delivering strong performance for a vehicle in its class. The system supports up to 95 kilometers of pure electric driving, while the full setup enables a total combined range of up to 1,415 kilometers.
Inside, the G50 PHEV is configured for comfort and versatility. A three-row layout with captain seats, a panoramic sunroof, and dual 12.3-inch digital displays create a more premium and connected environment. Designed for both daily commutes and longer trips, it offers a balance between efficiency and usability for modern family mobility.
The G50 PHEV is priced at PHP1,398,888, making it an accessible entry point to electrified MPV ownership.
The Performance Statement: MG Cyberster
Representing the other end of the spectrum is the MG Cyberster, the brand’s all-electric roadster that highlights its design and performance direction. While not positioned as a volume model, it serves as a showcase of MG’s capabilities in electric performance and styling.
With its low-slung proportions and striking design, the Cyberster signals a more emotional side of electrification, demonstrating that EVs can deliver both performance and visual impact alongside efficiency.
A Broader Electrified Push
Beyond these headline models, MG’s presence at MIAS reflects a broader expansion into electrified mobility. Its lineup now spans traditional gasoline vehicles, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric models, giving buyers more flexibility in choosing how they transition toward more efficient driving.
Models such as the HS Hybrid+, ZS Hybrid+, and MG3 Hybrid+ further reinforce this direction, showing a steady move toward electrification across multiple segments.
Mobility for Every Drive
MG’s “Next Wave” is less about a single breakthrough model and more about building a complete mobility ecosystem. From practical sedans to family-oriented hybrids and performance EVs, the lineup is structured to meet different needs without forcing a one-size-fits-all solution.
At MIAS, that approach becomes clear. MG is not just introducing new vehicles, it is expanding the ways drivers can move, whether through efficiency, versatility, or performance.
