Mitsubishi Launches the All-New 2019 Strada

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) recently unveiled the all-new 2019 Strada locally at Pradera Verde in Lubao, Pampanga.

The event was attended by MMPC executives led by its executive vice president Taichi Nakajima and Arlan Reyes, senior manager for Advertising and Promotions. Also present at the event was Japanese rally driver Hiroshi Masuoka who demonstrated the capabilities of the new Strada.

Engineered Beyond Tough

The new Strada is envisioned, like its predecessors, to be a successful pick-up truck both for commercial and private use owning to its 40 years of rich Mistubishi pick-up truck heritage. It is designed to be a more comfortable yet capable, durable, and reliable truck. It is aimed at reclaiming the pick-up segment throne.

Exterior and Interior

A new “Rock Solid” design concept with the “Dynamic Shield” fascia is featured in the new Strada. The design is supported by a high hood, functional LED lamps, grille-harmonized LED projector type head lamps, and sharp curves.

The new Strada also boasts a modern entertainment system with 2-DIN touch screen monitor, tuner, MP3 player, USB, auxiliary jack, Bluetooth with Mirror Link feature multi-media system, GPS Navigation System. For passenger convenience, front and rear smartphone
trays with USB terminals are also made available. The J-Line design gives it a good amount of legroom that can comfortably seat five adults.

Engine and Performance

Power comes from a 2.4L 4 in-line 16-valve DOHC Clean Diesel with Variable Geometry Turbo and MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control System) 4N15 which gives a maximum output of 181 Ps/ 3,500 rpm and 430 N-m/ 2,500 rpm of torque. Larger rear dampers are also present across models with the GT 4×4, GLS 4×4, and GLS 4×2 models utilizing larger front discs and caliper pistons for better braking.

The GT 4WD AT variant is equipped with a Super-Select 4-Wheel Drive while the EasySelect 4WD is fitted in the GLS 4WD MT. Both systems deliver the best traction and handling on any road condition.


The new Strada comes with a multitude of passive and active advanced safety features which includes the proprietary RISE body (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) for better collision absorption. Also present are the Active Stability Traction Control (ASTC), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) which are now made standard across all variants.

The GT 4×4 variant is equipped with a Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) system,Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation (UMS) System, and a Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system which further enhances the safety of passengers.

The all-new 2019 Strada is available in seven exterior colors namely white diamond, graphite gray metallic, sterling silver metallic, jet black mica, red solid clear, grayish brown metallic, and impulse blue metallic. The base GLX variant starts at PHP 1, 165,000 while the top of the line variant retails at PHP 1,670,000. It is also available in a commercial utility vehicle setup under the L200 badge which shares the same design language and quality.
