Positioned to be the top variant of the brand’s to-selling nameplate, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) introduces the Xpander Cross in the Philippine market.
The Xpander Cross is a family-friendly 7-seater crossover MPV built with solid SUV styling, comfortable and pleasant drivability, as well as a spacious, practical and versatile interior design.
With the popularity and the many awards the Xpander has achieved, the Cross variant further expands the vehicle’s capabilities by adding a rugged sporty style and toughness to the comfortable and versatile 7-seater MPV.
“The Xpander is a very important product to MMPC as it fits many of the vehicle requirements of Filipinos. It provides the reliable performance, spacious and comfortable interior, host of safety features and a very bold design. Now with the entry of the Xpander Cross and its added features, we see renewed potential to the already successful Xpander nameplate,” says MMPC president and CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri.
With the tagline Live Extra, the Xpander Cross encourages Filipino families to break away from the regular work-to-home routine and live life to the fullest. Now with a class-leading high ground clearance of 225mm and enhanced robust design, the Xpander Cross enables its owners to explore more adventurous terrains.
Dynamic Exterior Design
The Xpander Cross reflects the Mitsubishi Motors DNA through its Dynamic Shield design that projects both dynamism and power. To further exude a sporty SUV image, the Xpander Cross is enhanced with the following:
- New front grille and bumper design
- LED headlights and fog lamps
- 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels
- New fender arch and side body molding
- New rear garnish and LED combination lamps
- Roof rails
Outstanding Driving Performance
The Xpander Cross is engineered with a 1.5L MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) gasoline engine DOHC 16-valve that generates reliable power and fuel efficiency. Thanks to high-performance sound absorbing and vibration blocking materials installed in the engine, the Xpander Cross is the most silent model in its class (near 80% articulation index).
Now with the class-leading 225mm ground clearance, combined with a special tuned suspension with a rebound spring the Xpander Cross is capable of traversing more challenging terrains without compromising ride comfort.
To further enhance driving comfort, the Xpander Cross is designed with a wide windshield and high seating position that provides good visibility for the driver and is also equipped with cruise control features to lessen fatigue during long drives.
Designed with users in mind
The 7-seater Xpander Cross has a spacious cabin with versatile seats that can be configured in various positions to accommodate different space or seat requirements. The second and third row seats can be folded flat with no gaps to accommodate large cargo loads.
All of these are combined with a luxurious interior design dominated by black with brown accents and dual tone leather seats. The ergonomic dashboard features a white-lit high contrast instrument meter display and a 7-inch touch screen multimedia system with reverse camera.
Traveling with family is even more comfortable with convenient power outlets on all three rows. For loose items, the Xpander Cross also offers ample storage spaces such as seatback pockets, seat under tray, and rear cargo box.
Colors and Price
The Xpander Cross retails for PHP 1,255,000, and is available in sunrise orange, quartz white pearl, sterling silver metallic, and graphite gray metallic.
The launch campaign of the Xpander Cross features a celebrity family as its brand ambassadors. “The Arellano family is the best representation of a modern and adventurous Filipino family. Despite their hectic schedule, both Drew and Iya are still able to balance a fun and healthy lifestyle. They both excel in their professional careers, are known for their sporty lifestyle and still manage to be amazing parents to their kids,” notes Alvin Dalida, MMPC 1st VP for marketing and sales division.
The Xpander was first launched in the Philippines in 2018. It immediately gained strong traction in the market as it sold 13,494 units during the first year and now has a total of 36,168. Currently the Xpander is the best-selling MPV in its category in the country and it has contributed 30% in the total sales of MMPC. The Xpander also won numerous awards from highly recognized award giving bodies that validates the Xpander is a value for money vehicle.
