Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), through its authorized dealer Hyundai trucks and buses Alabang (HTB Alabang), successfully turned over 15 units of Class 3 HD50S Modern PUVs to the Bulusan Transport Service Cooperative (BULTRASCO) during the group’s Modern PUV launching held last April 18, 2022.

With the theme “Sulong at Sama-Sama sa Isang Adhikain para sa Modernong Transportasyon na Napapanahon,” the event started at the Sorsogon Integrated Terminal Exchange (SITEX) in Sorsogon City for a short send-off program and motorcade, followed by the formal turnover at Bulusan Terminal, an hour away from the provincial capital.

The newly released Hyundai Modern PUV units are earmarked to serve the coastal towns of Bulusan, Barcelona, Gubat, and Sorsogon City providing efficient, comfortable, safe, and environmental-friendly transportation to locals and tourists alike.

Present during the launch event were Bulusan Mayor Hon. Michael G. Guysayko, regional director of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region V PMGen. Antonio N. Gardiola, Jr., Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) executive director Eugene M. Pabualan, BULTRASCO chairman Santiago Galve II, representatives from HARI and HTB Alabang, and guests from the local government and business partners.

Mayor Guysayko expressed optimism that the presence of Hyundai Modern PUVs will boost tourism in Sorsogon by providing safe and reliable access to the province’s famed tourist attractions.  For his part, director Gardiola commended BULTRASCO for its commitment to providing the province with comfortable and reliable public transportation. He also encourages other local transport groups to join the movement and experience its benefits.

Hyundai Modern PUVs were unveiled to the public during the send-off program at the Sorsogon Integrated Terminal  Exchange (SITEX) in Sorsogon City.

BULTRASCO is the 4th transport cooperative beneficiary of the PUV Modernization program in the entire Bicol Region. Earlier, in 2020, a fleet of 23 Hyundai Modern PUVs was turned over to the Tabaco-Legazpi Transport Cooperative (TALETRANSCO) of Albay province.

This latest development serves as another achievement for HARI’s continuing support for the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) in the Bicol region. “Our Hyundai Modern PUV is a testament to our continuing mission of developing the transport sector through quality people movers that in turn upgrade the quality of lives of drivers and commuters alike,” said HARI president and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo. “Further, the Hyundai  Modern PUV is a symbol of Filipino ingenuity, built with the diligence, skills, reliability, and determination of Filipinos working for the advancement of Filipinos. With the nation’s transport  sector and workforce joining hands to make commuting better and safer for the riding public, we  can all contribute towards making opportunities for progress more attainable for the Filipino.”

Since the inception of the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program or PUVMP  in 2017, HARI has been a firm supporter of the national goal to modernize transportation, sustaining the momentum even at the height of the pandemic. In 2021, the company turned over close to 500 modern PUV units to various local transport cooperatives across the country. This year, HARI aims to touch base with more key cities and provinces.

The Bulusan Transport Services Cooperative (BULTRASCO) formally received its Provisional Authority to Operate during the launch ceremony in Bulusan Terminal, signifying the start of modernized transportation in Bulusan, Sorsogon.
