MOVE IT is reinforcing its commitment to road safety in collaboration with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). The homegrown motorcycle taxi company has donated brand-new helmets to the agency’s Motorcycle Riding Academy (MRA), aiding in MMDA’s goal of making two-wheel training courses more accessible to current and aspiring motorcycle riders.

The MRA offers free riding training sessions conducted by expert instructors, with a curriculum designed for both beginners and experienced riders. As participants are required to bring their personal gear, the donation of brand-new helmets helps lower barriers to participation in the free course.

This is the latest initiative in the long-standing partnership between MOVE IT and MMDA. The collaboration has previously included MMDA’s facilitation of various road safety courses, both for MOVE IT’s on-ground road safety training program and its in-app learning platform for rider-partners, the MOVE IT Academy. The motorcycle taxi platform has also previously donated equipment such as agility cones, rider vests, and tents to the academy.

MOVE IT general manager Wayne Jacinto underscores the importance of training and education as the community of two-wheel drivers, whether private riders or motorcycle taxi service providers, continues to grow.

MMDA chairman Romando Artes thanked the motorcycle taxi company for its continuous support of the agency’s mission to make Metro Manila’s thoroughfares safer for commuters and drivers alike. “MMDA is pleased to collaborate with MOVE IT and other private players in the transport sector. A united industry stance on promoting road safety is essential for cultivating a culture of discipline and a safety-first mindset on our roads. This is just the first of many initiatives that MMDA and MOVE IT will undertake this year focused on road safety.”
