Suzuki has announced the availability of the GSX-S1000 ABS, the next in line for the historic GSX Series throne. With the pedigree of a high performance sports bike, Suzuki’s newest motorcycle promises riders extreme power, handling, and agility akin to competition-level models.
The GSX-S1000 ABS is powered by a 999cc inline four power unit based on the GSX-R1000. It has a 73.4mm bore and 59mm stroke allowing for a maximum power of 145.52PS @ 10000RPM and 106Nm @ 9500RPM. Keeping the power plant fed is Suzuki’s original Dual Throttle Valve fuel injection system. Paired with an Air Cleaner, the GSX-S1000 ABS provides fuel efficiency and smooth revs on top of Euro 3 compliant emission levels.
Also featured is the company’s Advanced Traction Control System which utilizes five sensors throughout the motorcycle to optimize ignition timing and air delivery. An accompanying switch on the left handlebar allows riders to select three different sensitivity levels for the best experience on proper straightaways, regular city roads, and bad road conditions.
It also sports a 43mm KYB inverted front damping fork, link-type rear suspension, Brembo radial mount brake calipers, and an antilock brake system with a Bosch ABS control unit, all the while riding on 6-spoke aluminum cast wheels.
As for appearance, the Suzuki GSX-S1000 ABS is unmistakably a performer. Poised to impress, it has a lightweight yet muscular aluminum body with an aerodynamic frame, braced aluminum swingarm, LED headlight, taillight, and turn signal lights, layered radiator shroud, short muffler, a sporty yet comfortable seat, and a full LCD instrument panel.
The new Suzuki GSX-S1000 ABS is available in metallic triton blue, sparkle black/candy daring red, and mat fibroin gray. It has a suggested retail price of PHP 599,000.
