The Philippine motorcycle market is dominated by familiar gasoline-powered scooters that have long set the standard for affordable daily transportation. VinFast is entering that competitive segment with the Viper, an electric motorcycle that combines sporty styling with removable batteries, connected features, and flexible ownership options.
With a top speed of up to 90km/h and a starting price of PHP73,900 under the battery subscription model, the Viper is positioned against popular 125cc commuter motorcycles. Here are three reasons it may appeal to Filipino riders considering the switch to electric mobility.
1. Familiar styling with electric performance
Unlike electric motorcycles designed around overtly futuristic styling, the VinFast Viper adopts the aggressive proportions and muscular stance commonly associated with sporty commuter scooters. Its design may feel more familiar to riders moving from a conventional gasoline-powered motorcycle.
The Viper is equipped with a 5,200W brushless direct-current in-wheel motor and can reach a claimed top speed of up to 90km/h. This gives it enough performance for regular urban commuting and travel on faster city roads.
Its equipment includes a TFT instrument display, projector headlamps, and dual rear shock absorbers with external reservoirs. A Smart Key system also provides remote locating and tracking functions, adding connected convenience to the daily riding experience.
Two removable lithium iron phosphate batteries can be installed beneath the seat. With both batteries fitted, VinFast claims the Viper can travel up to 150km under standard test conditions before recharging or swapping is required.
2. Removable batteries and swapping support
Charging access remains one of the main considerations for riders thinking about an electric motorcycle. VinFast addresses this by allowing Viper users to remove the batteries and recharge them at home using a standard household outlet.
Customers enrolled in the battery subscription program may also exchange depleted batteries at V-Green swapping stations. Each battery swap costs PHP35, providing an alternative to waiting for the battery to recharge.
Customers who subscribe on or before July 31, 2026, are eligible for an introductory offer that provides a free one-battery subscription for the first 12 months. The promotion also includes up to 20 free battery swaps per month during the promotional period.
VinFast estimates that 20 swaps could provide at least 800km of riding based on a conservative 40km per exchanged battery. Actual distance will depend on riding conditions, vehicle load, speed, traffic, and other operating factors.
V-Green plans to establish around 30,000 battery-swapping stations in the Philippines. The initial rollout is expected to begin at VinFast dealerships before expanding to other locations, although the company has not announced a completion schedule.
3. Flexible battery ownership options
The VinFast Viper starts at PHP73,900 when purchased under the battery subscription model. This places its initial acquisition cost within the general range of mainstream 125cc commuter scooters sold in the Philippines.
Battery subscribers pay PHP439 per month for one battery or PHP799 per month for two. The arrangement gives customers access to V-Green’s battery-swapping network while reducing the motorcycle’s upfront purchase price.
Riders who prefer to own the batteries may purchase the Viper for PHP86,600 with one battery. The two-battery package is priced at PHP99,300.
The different packages allow buyers to choose between a lower initial vehicle price with ongoing subscription fees or a higher upfront cost without a monthly battery subscription. The most appropriate option will depend on expected mileage, access to swapping stations, charging arrangements, and intended ownership period.
A flexible way to go electric
Beyond replacing a gasoline engine with an electric motor, the Viper gives riders more flexibility in how they manage daily charging and battery use. Customers can choose to own the batteries, subscribe to them, recharge at home, or use V-Green’s battery-swapping stations when available.
Its familiar styling and commuter-focused performance also make the transition from a conventional scooter feel more straightforward. As V-Green expands its swapping network across the Philippines, the Viper’s ownership model could become even more convenient for riders in more locations.
