Pavement maintenance works are underway at the NLEX-SCTEX as the Metro Pacific Tollways unit NLEX Corporation continues its regular program to keep the expressway network safe and in good condition.
The ongoing pavement repair aims to complete by June 2021 the asphalt overlay and patching work in 109,886sqm section of the NLEX and 31,600sqm section of the SCTEX.
NLEX Corporation president and general manager J. Luigi L. Bautista noted that comprehensive pavement repairs are being done annually, covering the entire expressway, to ensure a safe driving experience and improve the quality of service.
“Every year, we repave our roads portion by portion to make sure our motorists continue to experience safe and efficient travel. Our engineers regularly inspect the expressway and do the necessary repairs before serious damage takes place,” Bautista said.
For the duration of the pavement repair program, the tollway company assures that minimal lane closures are being implemented, and signs and other warning devices are also installed to guide motorists passing the repair sites.
Safety repairs are also being undertaken at Pau Bridge in NLEX San Simon, Pampanga, and Gumain Bridge in SCTEX Floridablanca, Pampanga. Works include repair of the concrete plinth, replacement of bearing pad, and realignment of expansion joint.
The repair schedule is posted on NLEX Corporation’s social media accounts for customer guidance.
Meanwhile, in another development, the tollway company completed the renovation of the two rest areas in SCTEX Floridablanca, including the installation of lamp posts and perimeter lights. The said improvements aim to provide motorists with safe, clean, and orderly facilities.
Last year, despite pandemic-related constraints, NLEX also undertook the same pavement repair maintenance works to boost the safety and overall travel experience of motorists. It also refurbished its facilities, including toll plaza repainting, guardrail and fence repairs to protect motorists from roadside hazards.
