AIA Philippines has launched what it calls AI Roleplay, an AI-powered training platform built into its existing Master Planner digital ecosystem. The tool lets AIA Life Planners run through simulated customer conversations before they ever sit across from an actual client.
The platform generates various customer personas and scenarios based on real-life situations, ranging from a parent worried about household expenses to a prospect hesitant to commit to a long-term insurance plan. After each session, Life Planners receive feedback on objection handling, emotional engagement, communication fluency, and product knowledge.
One of the more notable aspects of the platform is language. AI Roleplay supports English, Tagalog, and Taglish, the natural code-switching mix of Tagalog and English that most Filipinos use in everyday conversation. Taglish-capable AI language models are still uncommon in the industry, and AIA’s investment in this feature reflects a deliberate push toward culturally grounded technology rather than a generic off-the-shelf solution.

Why Insurance Training Needed a Rethink
Insurance sales have always involved high-stakes, personal conversations, and new agents have historically struggled to get enough practice before facing real clients. Traditional training materials can also take months to develop and update, making it difficult to keep pace with changing customer needs and more complex financial situations.
The AI Roleplay platform essentially gives every Life Planner access to a 24/7 coaching environment on their mobile device, with immediate feedback after each simulated session. The company says this makes training more personalized, more scalable, and easier to access, regardless of where a planner is based.
“Insurance has always been deeply personal. Behind every conversation is someone thinking about their family, their future, and the financial decisions that matter most to them. Technology should help Life Planners become better listeners, more empathetic communicators, and more confident in addressing real customer concerns,” notes Melita Teo, President and CEO, AIA Philippines.
AI That Supports, Not Replaces, the Human Side
AIA Philippines is careful to frame the platform as a tool that enhances what Life Planners bring to the table, rather than one that automates or replaces it. President and CEO Melita Teo has emphasized that the goal is to build agents who are better prepared for unpredictable, real conversations, not ones who follow a script.
“Every customer conversation is different. Agents need to be prepared not just with product knowledge, but with the confidence to respond thoughtfully in the moment. AI Roleplay gives them a space to practice, improve, and learn through experience before meeting actual clients,” Teo said.
The rollout began with a pilot group that included new Life Planners, recruiting leaders, top-performing agents, and agency leaders, before expanding nationwide. The company says future updates will deepen its localized conversational capabilities further.
AI Roleplay is part of AIA Philippines’ broader digital transformation push, which also includes AI-powered platforms for underwriting support and customer engagement. For a company that has been operating in the Philippines since 1947, it is a significant bet on what it believes the next generation of insurance advisors will need to succeed.
