    Leading Philippine telco and digital services provider PLDT together with its digital enterprise enabler ePLDT and in partnership with global market intelligence provider International Data Corporation (IDC), held the 2017 Philippine Digital Convention from June 14 to 15 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay.

    The two-day convention, the third of its kind to be held, showcased transformational technologies that would redefine enterprise-side and consumer-side experiences in the local market.

    The Philippine Digital Convention brought over 1,000 delegates composed primarily of C-level executives, business owners and key decision makers from the country’s leading SMLEs to discuss digital innovations, upcoming trends in and insights into disruptive technologies that could change business practices, customer experiences, and global competitiveness of local businesses.

    Centred on the theme “Redefining Experience,” the convention focused on four general topics: software-defined networking, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and cyber security. The plenary session spread throughout the first day of the event, featured top global technology thought leaders and experts sharing insights on these topics.

    Among those invited to speak are Tomorrow CEO Mike Walsh, Head of Cisco Smart Cities for Asia Pacific, Japan and China Zdravka Pasklaeva Newman, IBM Research Global Labs Vice President Dr. Robert Morris, Ciena CTO Karl Horne, Cytron Technologies CEO Tan Eng Tong, and Akamai Technologies APJ Security CTO Michael Smith.

    PLDT Chief Revenue Officer Eric Alberto said: “As disruptive technologies keep challenging old business models, large and small and medium enterprises [sic] need to discover and appreciate this emerging value proposition: that networks, applications, devices, and customer channels, all converge into one seamless ecosystem, to be able to deliver an experience expected and demanded by today’s end-customer.”

    Industry-focused group discussions were scheduled throughout the second day for the breakout technology segment, covering different important sectors of the Philippine economy such as banking and finance, business, education, government, retail and hospitality. Industry authorities spearheaded the discussions which zeroed in on industry challenges and ways to empower these industries with the right tools and practices to prepare them for the future.

    A Digital Expo was set up for attendees to experience the latest and upcoming technological innovations from leading local and international technological innovators including Cisco, Huawei, Samsung, Facebook Workplace, Checkpoint, Enghouse Interactive, IBM and ZTE.
