Visa has introduced Visa University in the Philippines, bringing its global learning platform for payments and banking professionals to the local market. The initiative combines Visa’s payments expertise with global and regional case studies to strengthen professional education and capacity building across the financial services sector.

Designed for banking, fintech, merchant, and finance professionals, Visa University aims to support the continued development of industry talent as the payments ecosystem evolves through digital transformation, emerging technologies, and changing consumer expectations.

Building expertise in a rapidly evolving industry

Led by Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA), Visa’s advisory and analytics division, Visa University held its inaugural forum at the Asian Institute of Management. The event attracted more than 130 participants from banks, fintech companies, merchants, and other financial institutions.

The forum explored payments fundamentals and emerging trends shaping the industry, including agentic commerce, risk management solutions, and innovations in payments technology.

Developing future payments leaders

Visa University was created to help professionals build a stronger foundation in payments while preparing for the industry’s next phase of growth. As digital payments continue to expand, financial institutions are placing greater emphasis on developing talent capable of navigating increasingly complex payment ecosystems.

According to Visa, the program is intended to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to support a more inclusive, innovative, and secure digital economy.

From payment fundamentals to advanced innovation

The inaugural forum focused on core areas of payments education, including issuing, acquiring, and credit card profit-and-loss management. These modules were designed particularly for early-career banking professionals seeking a deeper understanding of how payment systems operate.

The platform also builds on previous executive education initiatives. Visa University has previously partnered with INSEAD to provide training programs for banking executives focused on emerging payments innovations and industry developments.

Expanding access to payments education

Looking ahead, Visa University is exploring partnerships with local higher education institutions and professional organizations to broaden access to specialized payments education.

The initiative may include the development of customized courses and modules tailored to the needs of Philippine financial institutions, helping strengthen the country’s payments ecosystem while supporting long-term talent development across banking and finance.
