Toyota Motor Philippines begins its 2026 esports season with onsite and online qualifiers, plus a new Junior Class for younger sim racers.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has kicked off its 2026 esports season with the start of qualifiers for the TGR Philippines Esports GT Championship, following the conclusion of Race Weekend 3 of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup on August 15.
The TGR Philippines Esports GT Championship is TMP’s premier sim racing tournament, designed to bring the excitement of motorsports to a broader and more diverse audience. It also gives aspiring racers a chance to begin their motorsports journey through competitive virtual racing, with previous winners going on to compete in the TGR Philippine Cup.
Onsite and online qualifiers
Qualifiers run from August 17 to September 13. Participants without their own PlayStation may complete their qualifying runs at selected GR performance dealerships.
These include Toyota Makati, Toyota Alabang, Toyota Silang in Cavite, Toyota San Fernando in Pampanga, Toyota Calamba, Toyota Cebu City, Toyota Otis, Toyota Commonwealth, Toyota Manila Bay, Toyota Global City, and Toyota Santa Rosa.
Participants who have their own PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 may instead qualify online, provided they have a copy of Gran Turismo 7, an active PlayStation Network account, and a PlayStation Plus subscription. Both onsite and online participants must register in advance to secure their qualifier schedule.
New Junior Class joins the competition
The 2026 tournament introduces a new class to encourage more young racers to pursue their racing ambitions. Participants aged 18 and below may now compete under the Junior Class, while racers aged 19 and above will compete in the Sporting Class.
Previously, all participants competed in a single class, with the top three winners advancing to represent the Philippines in the regional finals.
The top 10 fastest Sporting Class players and top 10 fastest Junior Class players will advance to the National Finals. From there, three representatives will be selected for the regional finals: the Sporting Class champion, the Junior Class champion, and the runner-up from either class who records the higher number of points after the final round.
National Finals set for September
The National Finals will be held onsite at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on September 27.
The Sporting Class and Junior Class champions will each receive a cash prize of PHP100,000, while the runners-up in both classes will receive PHP75,000 each. National finalists can also look forward to additional cash prizes and official Gazoo Racing merchandise.
