Global warming and climate change is no joke. In today’s day and age, every act of conserving counts. However, many are faced with the dilemma of being able to wash clothes in an efficient or environmentally friendly way . The best compromise, then, is to be mindful of how we spend our resources,  especially when it comes to conserving  water and electricity.

    Save Energy, Save the Planet

The Department of Energy (DOE) reports that the household sector places second when it comes to electricity consumption. Adding to this is the Household Energy Consumption Survey (HECS), released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), which determined that 29 percent of household electricity consumption is due to laundry activity.

Given the data, there’s no doubt why Filipinos are faced with the dilemma. However, they need not  worry anymore. As way to further progress its green initiatives and to provide a decent compromise between efficient  yet conservative laundry  washing, Beko Philippines encourages  Filipinos to go green with washing machines that help them do so.  Apart from suggesting that households run laundry only scheduled days,  the leading appliance provider also urges filipinos to invest on cost-efficient washing machines that will not only help conserve energy, but help them save  some bucks as well with significantly lower electricity bills.

“Beko believes that we must take into account how much energy is consumed even on our laundry. As we envision a greener laundry routine, the company has been initiating outstanding contributions toward the protection of the environment through energy efficiency and innovating eco-friendly washing machines,” said Dyeun Zapanta, Beko Philippines sales and marketing head.

The Orange Tags Campaign and Energy-Efficient Washing Machines

Coinciding with Meralco’s Orange Tags campaign that provides users with easy to comprehend labels that indicate  approximate energy consumption in kilowatt-hours (kWh) and the average  cost per hour, Beko’s washing machines and dryers were tested in a series of  trials. Here are the results:

Beko Frontload Fully Automatic Washing Machine

Beko’s three  top load, fully automatic washing  machines were estimated to cost around only one peso per hour of washing cycle, according Meralco. Going into detail, the 7kg capacity washing machine gives out PHP 0.96 per hour of washing with 0.09 energy consumption, and 94 watts for power usage.  The 9kg capacity top load, on the other hand, is able to give out PHP 1.14 per hour with 0.11 energy consumption at 97 watts. Lasty, the  12kg top load was estimated at PHP 1.37 per hour, with 0.13 energy consumption at 109 watts.

    Beko Dryers

“Our products are meant to not only improve how people live but also improve how we impact our environment. “Choosing an energy efficient washing machine can do more for the environment and at the same time, reduce the cost of their water and electricity bills. That is why we are bringing the efficiency of our washing machines as the Official Partner of the Everyday to help Filipino consumer save energy,” added Zapanta.
