Samsung Electronics says its Galaxy Z8 series has achieved a record volume of foldable pre-orders in Southeast Asia and Oceania, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 emerging as the most popular model in the lineup.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra increased by almost 60% compared with the previous Galaxy Z Fold7 generation, according to Samsung. The Galaxy Z Fold8 alone accounted for almost six in every 10 Galaxy Z8 devices ordered across the region.
Galaxy Z Fold8 leads demand in the Philippines
Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold8 has also become its best-selling foldable during a pre-order period in the Philippines. Since pre-orders began on July 22, the model has accounted for almost 60% of local Galaxy Z8 orders.
At peak demand during the pre-order period, Samsung says nearly one Galaxy Z8 series device was sold every minute in the Philippines.
Color preferences also varied across the lineup. Graphite and Lavender were the most popular Galaxy Z Fold8 colors among buyers in Southeast Asia and Oceania, while Violet Shadow and Graphite led demand for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Pink and Graphite were the top choices for the Galaxy Z Flip8.
Different foldables for different users
The Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs 201g, making it Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold to date. Its 4:3 main display is positioned for video, reading, gaming, webtoons, and other large-screen content.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra targets users who prioritize productivity and multitasking, with an 8-inch main display and an upgraded camera system. The Galaxy Z Flip8, meanwhile, emphasizes portability and uses a redesigned FlexWindow that provides access to apps, information, actions, and assistance from the cover screen.
Samsung also launched the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 alongside the foldables, extending the company’s connected-device ecosystem across smartphones and wearables.
Pre-order offers end August 13
Samsung’s Philippine pre-order period for the Galaxy Z8 series ended on August 13. Eligible purchases include a storage upgrade with savings of up to PHP7,000, up to PHP14,000 through qualifying trade-ins, and three months of Samsung Care+ valued at PHP3,297.
Eligible Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 purchases also include a six-month Google AI Pro trial.
Customers pre-ordering eligible 256GB variants can receive PHP3,000 off selected Galaxy wearables. Samsung also lists additional trade-in and vendor offers, although availability and eligibility can vary by store and promotion.
Easier device migration and sharing
The new foldables support Smart Switch for wireless data transfers through a QR code without requiring a separate app installation.
Quick Share has also been designed to make transfers between iOS and Galaxy devices more convenient, adding another option for users moving content between platforms.
