Taytay’s garment and craft businesses are expanding beyond the municipality’s physical tiangges through the Made in Taytay app, an online marketplace designed to connect local vendors with a wider customer base.

The platform is powered by PLDT Enterprise in partnership with Multisys Technologies Corporation, the local government of Taytay, Rizal, and the Department of Trade and Industry. By bringing locally made clothing, woodwork, and other products online, the initiative gives micro, small, and medium enterprises another channel for presenting their merchandise and processing customer orders.

Bringing Taytay products beyond the tiangge

Taytay is widely known as one of the Philippines’ major garment hubs, with its tiangges attracting shoppers looking for locally produced clothing at accessible prices. However, relying mainly on physical markets can limit the reach of vendors, particularly among customers who live outside Rizal or prefer to shop online.

The Made in Taytay app addresses that gap by allowing participating businesses to maintain digital storefronts that customers can browse from anywhere. Shoppers can discover products online while still retaining the option to visit or contact the physical seller, creating a link between the digital marketplace and Taytay’s established tiangge ecosystem.

Desserie Valdizno, owner of Rikishee RTW Store, said the platform helps highlight the products and capabilities of local businesses.

“The beauty of this app is that it is not just proudly Pinoy. The items for sale are really Made in Taytay,” Valdizno said. “It also has a lot of special features. For example, you can pick up goods at the physical store in the Taytay Tiangge via the Logistics Hub. Plus, whatever product you see online, you can also see in person because you can contact and trace the seller while still shopping online.”

Digital tools for day-to-day operations

The Made in Taytay app gives local garment and craft vendors a digital marketplace for reaching customers beyond the municipality’s physical tiangges.

Beyond serving as an online storefront, the platform includes digital tools intended to help merchants manage their businesses more efficiently. Vendors can use features for inventory tracking, basic accounting, and order management, reducing their dependence on purely manual processes.

The app also supports digital payment options such as e-wallets, giving participating sellers alternatives to cash-only transactions. PLDT Enterprise installed connectivity covering the tiangge centers so vendors can remain online and manage their digital storefronts while operating from their physical locations.

These functions are particularly relevant for smaller businesses that may not have the resources to build and maintain their own e-commerce websites. By combining connectivity, payments, inventory, and ordering tools in one platform, the initiative gives vendors a more structured way to participate in digital commerce.

Helping MSMEs reach more customers

PLDT Enterprise said the project reflects the role technology can play in helping small businesses scale and gain access to new opportunities.

“In a country where more than 90% of businesses can be considered MSMEs, supporting them by helping them scale and access more opportunities through technology forms a big part of nation-building,” said Blums Pineda, senior vice president and head of PLDT Enterprise.

“We are spurred to action by our chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan, who himself believes that there are no small businessmen, just small businesses. This is precisely why we are in Taytay. By providing this platform for growth, we empower our local entrepreneurs to reach more customers and grow sustainably.”

The partnership brings together the digital infrastructure and enterprise capabilities of PLDT Enterprise, the technology platform of Multisys, support from the Taytay local government, and the MSME development mandate of the Department of Trade and Industry.

Showcasing local craftsmanship online

The app is also intended to give Taytay businesses a dedicated digital identity rather than placing them inside a general online marketplace. This allows the platform to emphasize the municipality’s reputation for garment production, woodwork, and local craftsmanship while making individual sellers easier to find.

“This is proof of what we can do when we move together,” said Vic Tria, first vice president and head of enterprise domestic business and SME at PLDT Enterprise and president and CEO of Multisys.

“Multisys is proud to be part of this effort to showcase the talents and the craftsmanship of our Taytay entrepreneurs and bring them closer to more customers through the Taytay app.”

For buyers, the marketplace offers a way to browse Taytay products without losing the connection to the physical tiangge and its individual merchants. For sellers, it provides additional visibility while supporting ordering, payments, and business management through the same digital environment.

A model for other local industries

PLDT Enterprise said similar partnerships are being explored in other areas as part of its broader efforts to support MSMEs through tailored digital solutions.

The Made in Taytay initiative demonstrates how a digital marketplace can be built around an existing local industry rather than replacing it. By combining online discovery with physical-store pickup, direct seller contact, and tiangge-based connectivity, the platform extends Taytay’s traditional retail model into a more connected marketplace.

In Summary

The Made in Taytay app gives garment, woodwork, and craft vendors in Taytay, Rizal, an online marketplace for reaching customers beyond the municipality’s physical tiangges.

Developed through a partnership among PLDT Enterprise, Multisys Technologies Corporation, the Taytay local government, and the Department of Trade and Industry, the platform supports digital payments, inventory tracking, basic accounting, order management, seller contact, and physical-store pickup.

The initiative also provides connectivity across the tiangge centers, allowing participating merchants to manage their digital storefronts while continuing to serve customers through their physical locations.
