The second leg of the program gave 116 participants a hands-on look at the NMAX TECHMAX, from YECVT maintenance and parts support to an actual road ride.
Yamaha Motor Philippines brought the second leg of its YECVT: Shift to Performance program to Cebu, giving riders a closer look at the technology used in the NMAX TECHMAX.
Held at TOPS Cebu in Mt. Busay, the event drew 116 participants from partner dealerships and YClub communities, including members of the NMAX NEO Techmax Club and the NMAX Club of the Philippines Cebu Chapter. Participating dealer groups included Revzone DES Marketing Maxilom, Yamaha Motor Ace Gorordo, and Yamaha DES Strong Mandaue.

The program began with a YECVT maintenance demonstration, where Yamaha technical experts explained how to service and maintain the system to preserve performance.
The session also highlighted the capability of local 3S shops to support YECVT-equipped motorcycles using trained technicians and appropriate service equipment. Alongside the maintenance demo was a Yamaha Parts Electric Catalogue station, where participants were shown how to search for part numbers and locate available Yamaha Genuine Parts.
Participants also visited a booth for the My Yamaha Motor Rev PH app, which offers membership perks and rewards for Yamaha owners.
Taking YECVT onto the road
Riders experienced the NMAX TECHMAX on actual roads while exploring YECVT features such as three-level downshifts and touring-to-sport mode transitions.

The event then shifted from technical discussion to actual riding.
Participants were equipped with full-face helmets with intercoms, protective gear, and identification jerseys before receiving route and safety briefings from the Yamaha Riding Academy.
During the ride, participants experienced key YECVT functions on real roads, including the system’s three-level downshift function and the transition between touring and sport modes.
How the Shift button works
When you need stronger acceleration, pressing the Shift button triggers a downshift by adjusting the CVT reduction ratio based on riding conditions.
Successive presses can trigger additional downshifts, changing engine rpm as the motorcycle accelerates or decelerates. The same function can also increase engine-braking effect when riding downhill or in other situations where additional deceleration is useful.
The system allows up to three successive downshifts, although the number available at any given moment depends on several factors. These include the selected ride mode, throttle opening, throttle angular velocity, vehicle speed, and engine rpm.
Next stop: Mindanao
The Cebu activity was designed to show how YECVT can give riders more control across different riding situations while also familiarizing them with the maintenance and ownership support behind the technology.
The YECVT Shift to Performance program will continue to Mindanao for its third leg, extending the hands-on experience to another group of Yamaha riders.
