To officially welcome the incoming batch of undergraduate biology majors for Academic Year 2026–2027, the PUP Society of Biology Students (PUP SBS) will host its annual flagship freshman welcoming event, “Ain’t in LA, Bound for LABs: The Baddest Takeover” (Freshman Orientation 2026), on Monday, September 28, 2026.
The event will bring together more than 250 incoming BS Biology freshmen across specialized tracks, along with department faculty members, alumni, and student leaders. Originally conceived as an on-campus gathering, this year’s orientation has shifted to a dynamic virtual format, broadcast live via MS Teams and Facebook Live to ensure accessibility and safety for all participants.
With a vibrant modern laboratory theme inspired by scientific discovery and pop culture energy, the orientation aims to support young scientists as they transition into higher education. Freshmen will receive comprehensive overviews of academic expectations, curriculum milestones, research opportunities, laboratory protocols, and student rights.
Beyond academic briefings, the program features interactive icebreakers, student-led open forums, and community development segments. Notably, animal welfare advocacy group Youth for Animals – PUP (YFA-PUP) will present its KabaliCAT program, giving Animal Biology majors and advocates practical avenues for campus coexistence and animal rescue.
The event is made possible through collaborations with academic organizations, civic groups, and commercial sponsors. Through this virtual gathering, the PUP Society of Biology Students reaffirms its commitment to fostering academic excellence, camaraderie, and scientific service among the newest Siyentista ng Bayan.
