If you’re an Apple user and appreciated the sleek and clean look of iOS 7, you’ll definitely love the new iOS 8 more with its new interactive features.
iOS 8’s Notifications has received a new feature that lets you respond directly to messages from the Notifications view and lock screen. This function also goes well with other applications such as Facebook and eBay without the need of opening the app in full mode.
Just like OS X Yosemite, iOS 8 will be equipped with a better Spotlight too. Its search function will now cover everything from movies and songs available in iTunes, to Wikipedia articles and Maps entries.
The keyboard will also have a new predictive function called QuickType, with smarter auto-complete suggestions give you choices of words and phrases that would fit the context of your sentence. Also, Apple now allows installing of third-party keyboards on your iOS devices.
iOS 8’s Messages will also be revamped by getting a quick audio and video messages, self-destructing messages, and a temporary location sharing function.
Another useful new feature of the iOS 8 is the iCloud Drive that lets you open documents from one app inside another compatible app. The files stored in your Mac iCloud Driver can also be accessed through your iOS devices.
New applications such as HealthKit, which works as complete fitness center for the user and HomeKit, which enables iOS devices to control home automation devices with the help of Siri, will also be readily installed once you upgraded your devices to iOS 8.
iOS 8 also makes connecting with your family easier, as you can now share calendars, reminders, photos, and locations with other family members through Family Sharing. It also allows you to share purchased contents from iTunes to the family members who are in the list.
Similar to “OK, Google” in Chrome, Siri is now hands-free in the new iOS 8. You just have to say “Hey, Siri” and Siri will automatically recognize your voice and answer your queries.
