    FedEx Express Philippines, and Safe Kids Worldwide Philippines recently named San Dionisio Elementary School student Jake Russel Tumampos the 2019 Road Safety Champion as part of the National Road Safe Kids Week celebration.

    The Young Road Safety Advocate Program is a peer-to-peer initiative wherein fifth and sixth graders help train younger children in pedestrian behavior. The Young Road Safety Champion is awarded to the best student-mentor. 

    Apart from Tumampos, San Dionisio Elementary School also won the 2019 International Walk to School Best Idea. The school won the award for their innovative way of using social media to promote road safety. Over 8,900 students, 315 teachers, 182 parents, and 82 non-teaching personnel participated in the campaign.

    The Young Road Safety Advocate Program and the International Walk to School are programs and initiatives crafted by FedEx Express to teach children about road safety. 

    To date, the Young Road Safety Advocate Program has reached more than 30 schools in key cities in the country. While the International Walk to School is part of FedEx Express’ Walk This Way initiative supported in 10 different countries.
