In a move that brought together over a thousand members of the press from all over the world, Oppo launched two amazing new smartphones in Singapore just hours ago. The two devices, the N3 and R5, represent their continued plans to penetrate the global market.

The first f the two devices, the N3, brings a new twist to the smartphone market. There are the usual high-end specs, including 2GB of RAM, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Chipset, LTE connectivity, a 16MP snapper and a 1080P IPS LCD screen, but there’s quite a bit more to it than that. Apart from having a great camera with Schneider optics, the N3 features a motorized swiveling camera. Yes. it moves on its own.

A quick swipe up on the camera screen spins the camera around so it aces the same direction as the screen. A swipe down, and you’re back to the usual rear-facing configuration. we were able to give the device a quick try ourselves, and the response times were fast and actually not gimmiky. The same function can also be activated via a button on the back of the device.

The second device, and one that totally has my attention, is the R5. This phone now holds the distinction of being the world’s slimmest smartphone, clocking in at just 4.85 mm thick. That’s barely thinner than two Five Peso coins stacked atop each other. Take a moment to grasp that.

Specs-wise, the phone has a 5.2-inch, 1080P AMOLED screen that gives beautiful colors and saves a lot of power, even when it’s live. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, LTE connectivity, an Octacore processor running at 1.5GHz and the Snapdragon 615 chipset. To keep the heat in check in such a small, metal-framed device, Oppo has designed a special material that absorbs and dissipated the heat, even on such an impossibly thin phone.

We’ll have a few photos of the devices and a really quick hands-on for each as soon as we get some time to sit and get the words down!
