Those of us who have been wanting a Mi 3 finally got a chance to give in to temptation today. At exactly 12 noon, the Mi 3 went on sale via their partner Lazada.com.ph. There were 3,000 units up for grabs, and they were sold out in about an hour and a half. That’s about 33 units moved per minute. While the volume of phones sold isn’t exactly going to threaten any of the manufacturers that have made their products available here in the Philippines, we’re going to go out on a limb here and say they should be a little bit concerned. Moving that much product that fast isn’t (as far as I can remember) really something we’ve seen happen here before. The combination of a great device, interesting marketing, and an insane price seems to have paid off for the global brand, and if this success is any indication, we might just be able to see them sell their projected 60 million phones in 2014. Whatever else they decide to bring in, you can bet the Filipino consumers have room for them in their budgets.
