The 15th Annual Youth Congress wrapped up with resounding success last July 08, 2025, drawing in students, professionals, and advocates to a day filled with critical conversations, creative expression, and collective reflection on gender, psychology, and Filipino identity.

With the theme “Sikolohiyang Bakla: Balik sa Ugat, Yakap ang Bukas,” this year’s Youth Congress centered on exploring LGBTQIA+ narratives within the framework of Filipino Psychology. Hosted by student leaders and academic organizations, the event featured a diverse lineup of talks, workshops, and performances that highlighted the intersections of culture, identity, and mental health.

Keynote speaker Dr. Riyan Portuguez, known as Your Millennial Psychologist, opened the congress with her insightful talk, “Sa Loob ng Kubo: Safe Spaces and Hidden Lives,” addressing the importance of community support and decolonized mental health practices for queer individuals. The lineup also included Sir Vii’s talk “Likas ang Loob: Trans Becoming and The Filipino Psyche,” which resonated strongly with attendees for its bold and affirming narrative.

One of the event highlights was the vibrant segment—an artistic showcase of queer performances, and music, featuring the Musikolohiya Music Guild and Diesel, celebrating the spirit of Filipino flora, fauna, and freedom.

The organizers took this moment to honor not just the event’s legacy, but also the growth and resilience of its members, framed within the celestial theme of cosmic journeys and boundless galaxies.

“This is not just a culmination, but a celebration of where we’ve been and where we are going—together, in solidarity, and in pride,” said the lead organizer during the closing ceremony.

The 15th Annual Youth Congress leaves behind a meaningful message of hope and action. Participants shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, expressing how the event made them feel seen, empowered, and inspired to advocate for inclusive spaces in their own communities.

Plans for next year’s congress are already underway, with the organizing committee promising another transformative experience that continues to uplift marginalized voices and celebrate Filipino identity in all its diversity.
