Like Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, every mission has an end and a set of objectives to accomplish. Entering higher education is only the beginning of that mission. It provides students with a competitive edge in the Philippine professional landscape. Throughout this journey, we learn different concepts and skills that prepare us for our chosen professions. By applying the knowledge we gain, we are able to create solutions that address real-world problems in areas such as medicine, computing technology, governance, and the optimization of everyday tasks.
Much like the Voyager missions that ventured into the unknown to expand humanity’s understanding of space, the journey of Computer Science students is driven by curiosity, exploration, and the desire to discover new possibilities. Throughout their academic path, students navigate complex ideas, experiment with emerging technologies, and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. After years of exploration across the many fields of Computer Science, the journeys of many now arrives at a significant milestone: CS Expo 2025 2.0.
This event represents the culmination of the academic voyage of over a hundred Computer Science students from the FEU Institute of Technology. CS Expo is a course activity organized by the Computer Science Department and its students with the goal of showcasing their thesis projects. More than an exhibition, it serves as a launch point for the next generation of innovators, inspiring them to imagine and develop future solutions to real-world problems. It highlights the spirit of discovery that continues to guide students as they move forward into the ever-evolving field of technology.
Carrying the theme “Voyager’s Odyssey – Charting the Echoes of Discovery Beyond the Cosmos,” CS Expo 2025 2.0 celebrates the spirit of exploration that defines the journey of every Computer Science student. Much like the Voyager missions that expanded humanity’s understanding of the universe, this event recognizes the journeys of the students who dedicated years to exploring knowledge and innovation. At the same time, it aims to inspire future generations to continue this voyage by creating new solutions to the challenges we encounter in our daily lives.
Scheduled on March 12 and March 18, CS Expo 2025 2.0 serves as a dynamic and immersive showcase of 19 working thesis systems that effectively bridge the gap between complex theoretical computing and tangible real-world utility. This diverse collective of theses include 4 specialized projects focused on Environmental Solutions and Sustainability Systems, 2 cutting-edge systems on Computer Vision Applications, 7 sophisticated models on Machine Learning, and 6 impactful technologies on Natural language Processing Technologies. By showcasing these projects, the event brings out the ways of how students can bring their innovative academic ideas to life into scalable and workable tools that have the potential to make great impacts in various industries.
Showcasing the Results of One’s Journey
The First part of the event happened last March 12 on the 17th Floor – Multi-Purpose Room, each group presented their own unique approach to addressing real-world challenges. Through these projects, new knowledge and perspectives emerged, we hope that it can spark intellectual minds to encourage discussions, collaboration, and the continuous pursuit of better solutions.
Teams including Bandwitt, PhoenixCycle Coders, Techmo, and Techies have presented solutions towards sustainability, ecological improvement, and solutions that can help to protect and improve our planet, communities & inspire real‑world for more sustainability efforts despite the maturing of different industries and fields.
Next, 2 groups, Proxies and Team Differential have presented projects leaning forward to Computer Vision. It is behind so many innovations today — object detection, facial recognition, automation, image analysis, and even AI‑powered navigation systems.
Next, Seven teams—SuperDuperTeam, Void, Lockin, 3J+R, VALV, AlgoOmega, and IPC presented their innovation leaning forward to Machine Learning. It is at the heart of modern technology — powering recommendation systems, predictive analytics, pattern recognition, automation, and more; presenting solutions that showcase how machines can learn, adapt, and make decisions based on data.
And lastly, teams Fourward Thinkers, Wonderbros, Ctrl+C Ctrl+V, Kobo, JADC, and Exceptio(n)als have presented us their projects involving Language Processing. Natural Language Processing, This allows machines to understand, interpret, and even generate human language. From chatbots to smart systems, these innovations push communication and AI to new horizons. We use it today for translations, sentiment analysis, automated summaries, recommendation systems, and even speech recognition.
While the first day of CS Expo focused on thesis presentations, the voyage of my fellow Computer Science Students will not end yet. The mission continues on March 18. The second part of CS Expo 2025 2.0 will be happening from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Room 1502 on the 15th Floor of FEU Tech.This part of the event will acknowledge all the 19 groups that presented their innovative solution to solve particular problems and contribute for the betterment of the world and advancement towards the industry. There will also be keynote talks from industry professionals, along with a panel discussion exploring current trends and practices within the technology sector.
CS Expo 2025 2.0 would not be possible without the help of different organizations. This event is co-presented by RELX | Reed Elsevier. It is also in collaboration with Github, Uni (Uniball, and Posca) distributed by Asiatrends Import and Export Corporation, and Accenture. Also brought to you by Zagu Foods Corporation, Love Likha, Tomoro Coffee Everest. With support from Dairy Queen Trinoma, District Takoyaki, Genos’ Food Hub, Kusina ni Rosa and Tiny Treasures Club, CS Expo 2025 2.0 will also provide different merchandise to choose from during the event.
What’s Future Beyond our Classroom
Much like the Voyager spacecraft that inspired its theme, CS Expo 2025 2.0 symbolizes a journey that extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the technologies and solutions of tomorrow. For the students presenting at CS Expo 2025 2.0, this moment represents both the culmination of their voyage and the beginning of another. For the graduating Computer Science students of FEU Institute of Technology, the expo marks both the culmination of years of academic exploration and the beginning of new opportunities in the rapidly evolving world of technology.
In many ways, studying Computer Science feels like launching people on a space mission. There are many variables and industries to consider. As your journey goes, you will know what you can do to contribute to the different variables and industries for their development. It did not begin its mission as the farthest human-made object in space, rather, it started with a single launch and a clear direction. Over time, through careful engineering and continuous guidance, it traveled farther than anyone expected. Similarly, a journey in Computer Science may start with simple concepts like truth tables and basic code, but with persistence and growth, it can lead to vast and meaningful impact. The mission is not just about the launch, it is about how far you are willing to go.
There is a quote that says, “It’s not how you start that’s important, but how you finish”. The computing industry is massive, with countless fields to explore. Every problem has its own discipline and its own method of finding a solution. Computing technology serves as the bridge that different industries translate these solutions into digital form so they can reach and help people. Systems presented during the event demonstrate different impacts towards the Environment, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing. These ideas developed through the rigorous process of experimentation and learning help us to build various precedents to unravel different potentials to shape the technologies of tomorrow. Innovation begins with curiosity. Instilling these in each mind of us can lead us for a better future.
