The future of engineering is no longer confined within systems—it is being redefined beyond them. This April 23–24, 2026, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Manila once again takes the spotlight as it hosts the 18th Industrial Engineering Annual Convention (IEAC), a flagship event organized by graduating BS Industrial Engineering students.
With the theme “IEAC Beyond the System: Forge Your Path. Embrace Your Divergence,” this year’s convention reflects the realities of a world shaped by rapid technological advancements, uncertainty, and shifting industry demands. More than just an academic gathering, IEAC 2026 positions itself as a forward-thinking platform where future engineers are encouraged to break away from conventional frameworks and explore diverse, unconventional career paths.
Originally known as the “IE Assembly,” IEAC has been a longstanding tradition since 2008. Now in its 18th year, it continues to evolve—mirroring the very discipline it represents. Industrial Engineering today is no longer limited to optimizing workflows; it is about redesigning systems to be more resilient, ethical, and human-centered.
The two-day convention will be held at the PUP College of Communication Theatre and is expected to gather over 600+ Industrial Engineering students, alongside faculty members and industry professionals. Participants can expect a dynamic lineup of activities, including expert-led seminars, hands-on workshops, interactive competitions, and industry networking opportunities.
Among the highlights are specialized talks showcasing the versatility of Industrial Engineering across sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, and research and development—demonstrating how IE principles drive efficiency and innovation. These are complemented by motivational talks and alumni sessions offering real-world insights on navigating career uncertainty and building a strong professional identity.
One of the convention’s core strengths lies in its experiential learning approach. Innovation challenges and quiz-based competitions will test participants’ analytical thinking and problem-solving skills through real-world scenarios, while career development workshops focus on employability tools, from self-assessment to professional branding.
Through company talks and networking segments, students can directly engage with industry partners, gaining insights into corporate environments, career pathways, and emerging opportunities in the engineering landscape.
At its core, the event goes beyond being a requirement under the INEN 407 course—it represents the culmination of the organizers’ academic journey and their expertise in project management, logistics, and systems optimization. As former participants themselves, this year’s organizers aim to elevate the IEAC experience through fresh, innovative ideas, positioning IEAC 2026 as a gateway for future engineers to not only adapt, but lead in a rapidly evolving world.
