    The Junior Financial Executives at the Laguna State Polytechnic University – San Pablo City Campus (JFINEX-LSPU-SPCC) successfully held the much-anticipated 5th Financial Management Conference on January 31, 2025, at the University Amphitheatre. With the theme “Nag-S.I.S.I. ka na ba? Save, Invest, Secure, and Insure,” the event gathered Financial Management students, faculty members, and esteemed guest speakers to discuss essential financial literacy topics aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

    The conference commenced with an invocation, followed by the national anthem and the LSPU hymn. JFINEX adviser Dennis Gaudencio III R. Lorica warmly welcomed attendees with an inspiring opening message, emphasizing the significance of financial literacy and sustainable financial practices. Dr. Desiree L. Wagan, associate dean of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA), followed with an inspirational address, highlighting JFINEX’s enduring legacy and contributions to financial education.

    The conference featured insightful discussions led by distinguished guest speakers. Mr. Christian “Ian” M. Mancilla, Senior Investment advisor at BPI Wealth, kicked off the sessions with his talk on “The New Money Mindset in Three Steps.” He underscored the importance of financial planning, emergency funds, and strategic investing, leaving the audience with the key takeaway: “It’s not what you earn, but what you keep.”

    Following Mr. Mancilla’s session, Ms. Rizchelle Sampang-Manaog, Program director of the CFA Society Philippines, conducted an Ethical Decision-Making Workshop. She explored the ethical challenges professionals face, emphasizing integrity, accountability, and responsible decision-making. Her session equipped students with the knowledge to navigate financial ethics in their future careers.

    The afternoon session opened with a special presentation from Diwata Nature Resort, where Mr. Paul John Royo introduced the resort’s offerings. This was followed by an engaging panel discussion on “Securing Your Future” featuring Ms. Isabelita D. Castillo, Sun Life DPST head, and Ms. Rissha Lin Orias, Licensed Finance advisor. They highlighted the importance of financial planning, insurance, and investment strategies in achieving financial stability.

    Throughout the event, participants engaged in interactive icebreakers and raffles, fostering camaraderie among students. The speakers were recognized with Certificates of Recognition and tokens of appreciation for their valuable contributions.

    The conference concluded with closing remarks from JFINEX president, Ms. Andrea Nicole T. Gamilla, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, attendees, and JFINEX officers for their collective efforts in making the event a success.
