The first-ever National Career Development Forum themed “Braving the Changing World: Building a Successful Career in Today’s New Normal” and officially launched by the graduating batch from the Business Economics Department of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila will finally be happening on the first week of June via Zoom and Facebook Live. The 2-day forum is open to all college students, whether you are aspiring to become a successful professional or are dreaming to own your personal brand.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Philippine labor market has shown up in the form of a severe rise in unemployment, a drop in labor force participation, a significant reduction in working hours, and a large increase in the percentage of workers who are currently employed but not working. Session 1, which will be on June 3, aims to inform the public of the major challenges and the new normal setting of today’s labor market in the country, and how people can possibly adopt and build a professional career.
Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are considered to be the backbone of many economies like the Philippines. MSMEs created 5.7 million jobs, accounting for 63.2 percent of overall employment in 2018. The second session has the goal of educating the public about what has changed in the world of business during the COVID-19 pandemic. This session also aims to educate and encourage aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners in determining the best strategies in building their own brands.
