As the pursuit of innovation and intellect continues to rise among student organizations, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Manila is proud to witness the birth of an event that raises the bar on academic fellowship and intellectual excellence. Introducing IQ League, a flagship initiative spearheaded by the PUP Association of Students for Computer Intelligence Integration (ASCII), designed to ignite the bright minds of the university’s most driven student bodies.
This year’s pilot season is titled IQ League: Vanguard because this is the event’s launching ground — establishing the tone and setting the spirit of intellectual battle. The term “Vanguard” signifies leadership and front-running change, capturing the pioneering essence of this first-ever competition. As the event grows, future editions of IQ League are expected to carry new themes aligned with evolving academic and social movements, keeping the series fresh and relevant each year.
IQ League: Vanguard will spotlight an internal face-off: PUP Student Organization vs. PUP Student Organization — serving as the foundation for what is envisioned to be a long-running yearly spectacle. In succeeding years, the scope is planned to extend beyond the four walls of PUP, promoting wider partnership and intellectual pride among institutions.
This competition is not only a clash of intelligence but also a platform for student-led innovation. IQ League: Vanguard is a one-of-a-kind inter-organizational cognitive competition where student organizations face off in a battle of wits, strategy, and mental strength. Each participating organization will form a team composed of four members who will represent their group throughout the competition. The catch? The challenges they will face aren’t just randomly selected, they are specially designed by fellow student organizations from other universities, so each round is unpredictable and exciting. These games are designed to test participants across four major cognitive domains: Calculation, Memorization, Abstract Reasoning, and Spatial Awareness.
As the teams advance from round to round, they will compete in a series of these brain games, each one designed by a different game creator, so that each challenge is distinct and intellectually challenging. But beyond the competition. IQ League:Vanguard has a greater mission: the winning team has the privilege of selecting a cause or advocacy they wish to support — demonstrating that intelligence, when combined with purpose, can create meaningful impact in the community.
The participating organizations who have stepped up to the challenge of this first season include the IIEE-PUP Electrical Engineering Network x Quizzers’ Pool, Institution of Mechanical Engineers – PUP Student Chapter, Google Developer Groups on Campus PUP, PUP The Programmers’ Guild, and the ICPEP Student Edition – PUP Manila. Their courage and curiosity are matched only by the creativity and wit of our Game Creators: The East Innovators, Computer Science Student Association – CCS, and Junior Philippine Computer Society University of Perpetual Help System DALTA – Las Piñas Chapter.. These student organizations have been leading the charge in creating the mind-bending games that will test each team to their limits.
With the stage set and preparation wheels in motion, IQ League: Vanguard emerges not just as a competition, but as a celebration of knowledge, leadership, and purpose. Students, mentors, and changemakers alike are called to witness a battle of minds with a mission that extends beyond the classroom.
