Silip@lente, Adamson University’s official film organization, held their inter-school film festival, Realifilm 2023, last January 27 at Adamson University Theater. This was in partnership with the Cultural Affairs Office, the first film festival competition to be held physically in two years. In partnership with CCP Arthouse Cinema, the films “Mendiola Massacre” by Lito Tiongson and the 2022 Cinemalaya Short Film “See you George” by Mark Moneda were presented in OZ AVR Cinema before the awards night.
The second part of the event is the most awaited film showing of film entries from different colleges and universities. Catherine Cequena, director of the Cultural Affairs Office, formally opens the event with her welcoming remarks. After the premiere of 26 film entries, 8 films were presented as a “SILAU’S Choice”. The bronze award was given to the film “Hindi kita malilimutan” by PELIKVLA, a silver award to “Sa mga mata ng bata” by Anonymous Jeepney Productions, and the gold award was given to “All the Things Left Unsaid” by Recto Films.
Different film productions, particularly from Far Eastern University (FEU) and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) attended the event to support their film entries.
Attendees from Project Horsemen Production shared their thoughts on how this kind of platform can be a good opportunity for all filmmakers from every university and production to showcase their stories and come together to celebrate the beauty of creating films.
Meanwhile, inclined with the event’s theme “Romanticizing life and social issues” one of the Silver Award-winning production members shared their inspiration on how they came up with their chosen film story in “Sa Mga Mata ng Bata” by Chauncy Cruz of De la Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
“Noong ginagawa namin iyong film, we all have that same goal, tungkol sa mga takot ng mga bata. (When we came up with the film, we all had that same goal, about the fear of the kids) Parang mabilis kase ma corrupt yung minds ng mga bata especially in dealing with the adults.. Kase iyon yung nakikita nilang authority” (It’s like, their minds are the most vulnerable and easily corrupted, especially in dealing with adults because they are who they see as the authority).
The day after the physical film showing, Silip@Lente prepared a virtual film screening for all 26 film entries of Realifilm 2023 via Zoom Meeting.
