As San Beda University celebrates its 125th anniversary, it is strengthening the digital infrastructure that supports learning, teaching, and campus operations through its longstanding partnership with PLDT Enterprise.

The collaboration covers the university’s campuses in Mendiola, Manila, Taytay, Rizal, and Alabang, bringing together enhanced connectivity, upgraded digital platforms, and smart campus technologies as part of San Beda’s long-term digital transformation strategy.

Supporting a more connected campus

San Beda University’s digital transformation is focused on improving the student experience, enhancing academic delivery, and increasing operational efficiency through technology.

According to the university, the partnership with PLDT Enterprise supports these objectives by strengthening network connectivity, expanding campus Wi-Fi coverage, integrating digital systems, improving access control, and providing infrastructure that can scale with future requirements.

Across its campuses, PLDT Enterprise is providing dedicated internet connectivity designed to support online learning, digital resources, and campus services while helping deliver a more reliable experience for students, faculty, and staff.

Modernizing campus services

Beyond connectivity, the partnership includes several initiatives to modernize university services.

San Beda University has upgraded its website using Salesforce Experience Cloud to improve access to information and online services. A facial recognition access system has also been introduced at the Mendiola campus, with deployment at the Taytay campus planned within the year. Together, these initiatives are intended to strengthen campus connectivity, improve engagement between students and faculty, enhance campus security, and support more efficient day-to-day operations.

“At the heart of a digital campus are the students, educators, and school community who rely on technology every day to learn, teach, collaborate, and keep the university moving forward,” said Blums Pineda, senior vice president and head of the PLDT Enterprise Group at PLDT and Smart.

“As San Beda University marks 125 years, we are proud to support its vision for a more connected, secure, and future-ready learning environment. Through stronger connectivity, modern digital platforms, and smart campus solutions, we are helping build a foundation that can serve the Bedan community today and grow with its needs in the years ahead.”

Preparing for the future of education

For San Beda University, the collaboration is intended to create a digital environment that supports learning, communication, and campus management while remaining adaptable to future educational needs.

“As San Beda University celebrates 125 years, we are also preparing our community for the future of education,” said Rev. Fr. Aloy Maranan, OSB, rector-president of San Beda University.

“This partnership with PLDT Enterprise allows us to strengthen the digital environment across our campuses so that everybody can connect, learn, and work more effectively. By improving connectivity, modernizing our platforms, and introducing smarter campus technologies, we are building an experience that remains rooted in our mission while becoming more responsive to the needs of today’s Bedan community.”

The university said the latest initiatives build on its long-term digital transformation by combining connectivity, cloud-based platforms, network infrastructure, and smart campus technologies to support a more connected and future-ready academic environment.
