Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a concept—it is an engine driving advanced innovation and shaping economies worldwide. HP Philippines, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), hosted an advanced edition of Frontier Tech Trends in Roxas City, Capiz—an event supported by the Roxas City local government—as part of their joint initiative to equip Filipinos with deeper knowledge on how to leverage AI for national development.

Building on previous sessions that introduced AI fundamentals, this advanced edition focused on practical skills and tools, from prompt engineering and AI-powered upskilling platforms to industry use cases in cybersecurity and digital transformation. According to a recent study , AI is poised to inject about US$ 31 billion into the Philippine economy, underscoring the potential of AI as a powerful driver of economic growth. These programs are designed to equip attendees with the skills necessary to participate in or drive growth in industries and communities beyond Metro Manila.

“Technology is only as meaningful as the people it serves. Through programs like Frontier Tech Trends, we’re showing that AI is not here to replace us, but to empower us — to help Filipinos become more creative, more efficient, and more connected to opportunities wherever they are,” said Jhino Ilano, Director of the ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB) of the DICT.

From Cutting-Edge AI to Real-World Transformation

The Frontier Tech Trends event featured Idris Murat Atakli, AI Consultant for HP, and a global expert in AI, cybersecurity, and digital transformation., who combined an in-depth lecture with a hands-on workshop. He explained how AI is moving beyond task automation to become a decision-making partner. Through prompt engineering exercises, participants practiced turning lengthy regulations, client requirements, and complex information into actionable insights, showing how AI can sharpen decision-making in fast-paced industries like IT-BPM.

Idris also demonstrated AI’s growing role in strengthening security, highlighting how advanced systems can detect anomalies, anticipate threats, and streamline compliance monitoring. These discussions gave participants a clearer picture of how AI safeguards sensitive data and supports resilience across government services and outsourcing operations.

The workshop also explored how AI-powered tools for upskilling and automation can boost productivity and free up time for higher-value work. By testing these tools and creating their own AI prompts tailored to real-world scenarios, attendees were equipped with practical skills that can be used to fuel innovation, enhance competitiveness, and drive economic growth in their workplaces and communities.

    HP’s Commitment to Inclusive Innovation

For HP Philippines, the event reinforced its mission of making advanced technologies accessible, secure, and impactful.

“At HP, we believe that the future of AI in the Philippines depends on inclusivity—ensuring that tools, knowledge, and opportunities extend to Filipinos everywhere, not just in urban centers,” said Ida Evina Ong-Co, Managing Director of HP Philippines. “Through programs like Frontier Tech Trends, we aim to bridge the digital divide, enable innovation, and empower communities to benefit from advanced technologies.”

    Building an AI-Ready Philippines

The event highlighted the alignment between HP’s technology leadership and the DICT’s policy direction in creating a digitally empowered nation. By focusing on regions like Capiz, the session underscored the importance of spreading AI-driven opportunities across the country, supporting job creation, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.

With AI transforming industries from education and agriculture to finance and healthcare, the discussions underscored how Filipino workers and businesses can stay ahead by embracing advanced skills and responsible innovation.

Frontier Tech Trends continues to serve as a platform for dialogue, learning, and collaboration, fostering a vision of a Philippines that not only keeps pace with technological change but also leads with inclusive, future-ready growth.
