Universal Motors Corporation (UMC), through its subsidiary, Bayan Automotive Industries Corporation (Bayan Auto), the Philippine distributor of BAIC passenger cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles, broke ground on its new two-level, 1,200-sqm BAIC Makati showroom at a ceremony on 19 April.  Upon completion, the BAIC flagship showroom can showcase more than 20 vehicles at one time and will have a customer lounge, kid area, a boutique display area, sales offices, and after-sales service reception area at the ground level.  A mezzanine will hold the Executive Office and a Board Room.

The BAIC Makati Showroom is a statement of BAIC’s commitment to its customers and is envisioned to be a space where BAIC can engage with customers at all levels.  It will represent, and is an expression of everything that BAIC stands for – proactive, honest, intelligent, innovative and an energetic brand.

“The BAIC flagship showroom is a testament to our commitment to the brand and to ensure that Filipinos will have access to quality vehicles, with advanced features and at an affordable price,” said Bayan Auto president and CEO George Chua, who led the groundbreaking ceremony.  “With the continuing strong support from the banking community, we are confident that more Filipinos will be having access to BAIC vehicles,” he added.

George Chua welcomed representatives and friends from government and business.  Among the guests were Mr. Jeronimo Kilayko, UCPB president and CEO; Jacque Ruby, country head of History Channel Asia and A+E Networks Asia; and Mr. Wilson Lee of Universal Motors Corporation.

The BAIC flagship showroom will be ideally situated along Makati’s automotive row within the Universal Motors Corporation Compound at 2232 Don Chino Roces Avenue, and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2016.
