Tesla Philippines recently gave us the opportunity to experience the entry-level Model 3, and after an exhilarating test drive, I had only one question in mind: How soon can I get one? The Model 3 not only met but exceeded my expectations with its cutting-edge technology, sleek design, and impressive performance—solidifying its place as a game-changer in the electric vehicle (EV) space.
Design: 5/5
The car’s futuristic design turned heads as I navigated through BGC’s heavy traffic, adding a touch of flair to my drive. Its low-profile, coupe-like silhouette, striking lights, and flush door handles give it an avant-garde, almost cyberpunk aesthetic. Beyond its visual appeal, the vehicle’s aerodynamic build enhances efficiency, making it as practical as it is stylish.
Inside, the minimalist interior belies the barrage of advanced technology. The long, arching dash lines and soft-touch materials create an undeniably premium feel—even in the base model. The faux leather upholstery is a step above competitors, with the white leather option offering a non-stick, stain-resistant finish that’s both luxurious and easy to maintain.
One of Tesla’s best features is its customization options. Buyers can choose their preferred paint, wheel size, and interior color, allowing you to give the impression that your significant other is making all the decisions. After all, it doesn’t matter who picks the options—as long as they’re on board with you getting one in the first place!

The Model 3 comes packed with an impressive suite of driver-assist features, including Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Vehicle Surroundings Monitoring. These features not only enhance safety but also make driving in chaotic urban environments like Manila a breeze.
Creature comforts abound, starting with the 15.4-inch central touchscreen, which serves as the hub for virtually all vehicle functions. Rear passengers are treated to their own 8-inch touchscreen, while features like heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, and a panoramic glass roof elevate the experience even further.
One of the most remarkable features is Tesla’s remote access, which allows owners to control the car using their smartphone. This function lets drivers use their phone as a key, pre-condition the cabin before entering, and plan routes with integrated charging stops. Charging is another standout aspect, with Supercharging capabilities allowing a maximum charge rate of 250 kW, adding up to 193 km (120 miles) of range in just 15 minutes—a significant advantage in the EV market.
User Experience: 4/5
As a full electric vehicle, the Model 3 operates quietly, enhancing the overall driving experience. With 330Nm of torque and a maximum output of 279 horsepower, it delivers more than enough power for effortless overtaking and smooth acceleration.
That said, transitioning from a gas-powered car to an EV like the Model 3 takes some adjustment. Think of it like riding a bike for the first time. The car’s responsiveness mirrors the force exerted on the accelerator, which initially caused some jerky movements as I learned to modulate the pedal. This led to a few nauseous moments, but I quickly got the hang of it, relearning how to release the accelerator with finesse.
Another standout feature is the lack of traditional maintenance requirements. Unlike combustion-engine vehicles, the Model 3 doesn’t need oil changes or periodic servicing. It’s like buying a smartphone—just charge it and go.
Value: 5/5
As of this writing, the Model 3 is priced at PHP2.109 million for the entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive variant, PHP2.489 million for the Long Range All-Wheel Drive, and PHP3.099 million for the top-of-the-line Performance All-Wheel Drive. Compared to competitors offering EVs at higher price points, Tesla delivers an accessible, feature-packed alternative.
Tesla’s comprehensive warranty adds further value, with a basic vehicle warranty covering 4 years or 80,000 km, and 8 years or 160,000 km for the battery unit. This ensures long-term ownership remains worry-free, covering the most critical components.

For many of us who dreamed of owning an electric car decades ago, Tesla has made that vision a reality. However, practical considerations such as budget, lifestyle compatibility, and long-term maintenance remain crucial factors when deciding whether an EV fits your needs.
Fortunately, the Tesla Model 3 ticks all the right boxes—stunning design, cutting-edge technology, excellent performance, and competitive pricing. With more EV charging stations emerging in the Philippines, the shift toward electric mobility is becoming increasingly viable. If you’re in the market for an EV that offers top-tier innovation at a competitive price, the Tesla Model 3 is a must-consider option.
