Hino Motors Philippine (HMP), the exclusive distributor of Hino trucks and buses in the Philippines, strengthened its environmental efforts through its  tree-planting activity with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP). Held last July 15, HMP’s volunteer-employees  planted several seedlings in order to help  restore the Marikina Watershed.

Damaged by typhoon Ondoy back in 2014, the Markina Watershed was in need of utter rehabilitation. To reaffirm its environmental advocacies and to further empower local communities, HMP, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, was able to plant a total of  1,250 agroforestry tree seedlings in the Marikina Watershed, in Antipolo city.

The simple planting of trees was the the company’s way of aiding households and industries in and outside of Metro Manila to benefit from the Marikina Watershed as a major source of groundwater reserves. With the  community of Barangay Calawis benefiting from the project, the soon to sprout seedlings will serve as one way to battle against future typhoons.

“Planting of tree seedlings is one of the best ways to prevent immense flooding brought about by strong typhoons. Our commitment to this project is aligned with our corporate mission to make the world a better place to live in by helping people and goods get where they need to go safely, economically, and with environmental sustainability,” said HMP HR manager, Adelia Grimatt.

HMP continues to grow and strengthen its  CSR program. The tree planting activity is among HMP’s other projects  that  include medical missions, Brigada Eskwela and bloodletting.
