    YOUnique Campus Outlaws

In today’s fast-evolving world, shaping the riding culture of Gen Z goes beyond just providing motorcycles; it’s about inspiring a lifestyle, fostering safe riding habits, and connecting with students in ways that resonate with their individuality. Yamaha Motor Philippines’ Mio Fazzio plays a key role in this journey, offering a functional and stylish ride that complements the way young riders move and express themselves. To bring this vision to life, Yamaha launched the YOUnique Campus Outlaws. It’s a roadshow event that will visit different campuses across the country. In every stopover, there will be a week-long phygital journey where students will experience the Mio Fazzio lifestyle in an interactive and stylized way. The first leg was set in the DMMA College of Southern Philippines, Davao.

A Week filled with Activities and Experiences

Students embarked on an exciting journey with QR-code challenges; they earned points as they explored each activity and interacted with the various installations. This gamified approach kept the energy high and encouraged participation throughout the week.

Amidst the campus is the Mio Fazzio product display, showcasing every colorway and lifestyle inspiration for students. From the perfect campus fit check to planning their next ride, students got a firsthand look at how each design reflects personal style.

Besides all the activities, the Yamaha Riding Academy conducted a hands-on Learn to Ride session, giving students the confidence to ride the Mio Fazzio safely. From mastering the basics to understanding riding etiquette, the activity ensured that, as early as now, students understand the value of safe riding.

The week ends with the Night of YOUniqueness, a special program where students express their individuality and unique sense of style.

Adding to the excitement, the event featured a live performance from a Gen Z favorite rising musician, Earl Agustin, creating a night that blended self-expression, music, and the vibrant energy of campus life.

    The Campus Journey Continues

The YOUnique Campus Outlaws successfully blended physical and digital experiences, showing how Yamaha and the Mio Fazzio inspire the next generation of riders. From engaging challenges and style displays to learning to ride and celebrating uniqueness through music and fashion, Yamaha strengthened its connection with Gen Z. And the journey doesn’t stop here; Yamaha is bringing the YOUunique Campus Outlaws experience to more campuses soon, giving even more students the chance to ride, explore, and express their unique style. Stay tuned for the next stops in this exciting campus tour and get ready to be part of the Mio Fazzio lifestyle!

This thing is wild: Unbox Therapy on vivo X300 Pro

One of the world’s most influential tech voices just reacted to the vivo X300 Pro Photographer Kit, and the internet is paying attention.

In his latest YouTube video, Unbox Therapy host Lewis Hilsenteger called the vivo X300 Pro setup “wild”, describing its telephoto extender and grip kit as something that pushes smartphones into a new category. While reviewing the zoom stabilization at a 4K 30FPS video, he reacted in disbelief and asked his team, “Are you on a tripod?” When told it was handheld footage, he replied, “That’s crazy… the stabilization is wild.”

For millions of tech fans who follow Unbox Therapy, including a large audience in the Philippines, those reactions carry weight. The channel is known for its straightforward testing style and for influencing tech buyer decisions worldwide.

Hilsenteger emphasized that the vivo X300 Pro Photographer Kit produces images that “don’t look like they came from a smartphone.” He noted that the optical extender gives the device a capability rarely seen in mobile imaging and said, “There is still a place for optics.”

What stood out most was his conclusion that the device is not simply another flagship. Holding the full setup, he summarized it in a way that is now fueling conversations among creators: “It’s a lot more like a camera than a smartphone at this point.”

This early reaction has sparked speculation across the tech community that vivo may have redefined the boundaries of smartphone photography. As one comment under the video read, “Best camera phone in 2025.”

The vivo X300 Pro is priced at PHP77,999. The Photographer Kit accessories are sold separately as the vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Kit at PHP12,999 and the vivo PGYTECH Imaging Grip Kit at PHP7,999.

vivo has also partnered with CompAsia for a trade-in program so customers may exchange eligible devices for discounts toward the X300 Series.

With reactions like “This thing is wild” and “It gives you an image that doesn’t look like it came from a smartphone,” the vivo X300 Pro is quickly shaping into one of the most talked-about imaging devices of 2025, and possibly the one rewriting how far a smartphone camera can go.Learn more about the vivo X300 Series on the vivo website.

Sun Life Survey: Filipino families worry wealth won’t last beyond next generation

A new survey from Sun Life Asia reveals that, while financial security is regarded as a cornerstone of legacy planning across the Philippines, as many as 81% fear their wealth will not last beyond their children’s generation, underscoring an urgent need for structured planning and financial literacy in this space.

The Sun Life Asia research, titled Passing the torch: Building lasting legacies in Asia, surveyed over 3,000 respondents across the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam and highlights attitudes, behaviors, and aspirations regarding legacy planning in Asia.

With Asia experiencing the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in the coming decade, effective legacy planning is a growing priority for families to navigate – not only financial assets, but also the preservation of values, traditions, and opportunities for future generations.

Building a legacy of security and opportunity

More than seven in 10 Filipino respondents (77%) say having protection in place to ensure their family’s financial security is the most important factor in legacy planning. This is followed by educating future generations about financial responsibilities (53%) and building enough wealth to pass down to the next generation (52%).

Most Filipino respondents prefer the wealth they leave behind to ensure security for the family, with 69% preferring that future generations will use inherited assets to support essential family needs, such as housing and healthcare. A significant number of Filipinos would also like their legacy to be invested in long-term wealth creation for themselves and for generations to come (63%), followed by funding education from school to college or vocational training ( 62%).

Concerns around legacy not lasting beyond the next generation

Four in five (81%) fear their wealth may not last beyond their children’s generation, and more than half (64%) worry that their heirs are not financially equipped to manage inherited assets, underscoring the urgent need for better financial literacy and open family dialogue about money matters. Only 45% of respondents are confident their children will uphold their wishes around wealth transfer, preserve assets, and continue to grow them.

Concerns are most pronounced among the affluent, as they described themselves as “very concerned” about wealth preservation, highlighting that greater wealth often brings greater responsibility and considerably higher stakes.

Legacy is not just about money – it’s about meaning

Asian families define their legacy in multidimensional terms. When asked about the type of legacy they want to leave behind, 37% cite passing on wealth, including money, property, or other valuable assets, including family business, followed by wanting to have a personal influence on family and friends (16%), and passing down family traditions, values, and life lessons (13%).

Worries extend beyond financial matters to the preservation of family values — only 43% of Filipino respondents believe their children will uphold family traditions. Diverging priorities among younger generations (70%), limited engagement (39%), misinterpretation of values (38%), and weaker intergenerational bonds (31%) are cited as major factors.

    Many underprepared despite growing awareness

Even as awareness of legacy planning grows across the Philippines, preparedness remains low. Only 18% feel fully prepared in terms of legacy arrangements if they were to pass away today. Just 6% have completed and communicated their legacy plans, while over half (53%) have only partial plans, and 25% admit to having nothing at all.

Many legacy discussions lack structure. Almost half (42%) of legacy planning conversations are currently informal or casual, but this does not seem to be the preferred option, with just 19% of respondents stating this as the best setting.

Financial literacy is a valuable family legacy

Families are turning financial education into another form of inheritance by passing on knowledge and experience of money management. When asked what actions they have taken, or plan to take to strengthen the next generation’s confidence, a majority say they are teaching financial basics (66%), engaging in financial discussions (57%), and sharing personal experiences (57%).

Professional guidance towards legacy planning is also in growing demand. 43% of Filipino respondents have already engaged advisors, and 46% plan to do so.

Benedict Sison, CEO and country head of Sun Life Philippines, said: “People today want to pass on more than wealth; they want to give the next generation the knowledge and values to manage it wisely. With financial literacy becoming a key part of one’s legacy, we are committed to helping families plan and build legacies that last by providing trusted advice and financial education that can bridge the gap between intention and confidence.”

From barriers to breakthroughs: PLDT, Smart offers Android Accessibility Training to students with disabilities

AI is becoming a lifeline for young learners with disabilities, as PLDT and Smart launch Android Accessibility Training, a new program that teaches special needs education (SNED) students to use accessible Android tools for school and daily tasks. The goal is simple: turn the devices they already hold into learning companions they can rely on.

The Android Accessibility Training tailored for students with disabilities was developed with ATRIEV (Adaptive Technology for Rehabilitation, Integration, and Empowerment of the Visually Impaired), a nonprofit organization that provides ICT-based training and services to persons with disabilities, and NORFIL Foundation. The pilot run was held at Padre Gomez Elementary School in Manila, where 19 students took part in the five-day training.

Joy Lapuz, Stakeholder Management Luzon Head and Program Lead for Inclusion, PLDT & Smart

“Technology can be a great equalizer,” said Stephanie V. Orlino, AVP and Head of Stakeholder Engagement at PLDT and Smart. “With the help of mobile applications, our SNED teachers can customize their teaching strategies to better address the learning needs of students with disabilities.”

Supported by the Department of Education’s Schools Division Office of Manila, the sessions introduced students to interactive reading apps, gamified math tools, and communication features designed for users with sensory or learning disabilities. Teachers said many students responded well to real-time feedback and visual cues built into the apps.

“The workshop is aligned with the DepEd’s commitment to strengthening inclusive and quality education for all learners through the implementation and full operation of the existing Inclusive Learning Resource Centers and the establishment of new ILRCs all over the country,” said Amcy M. Esteban, Education Program Supervisor – Kindergarten and Special Education, DepEd Schools Division Office of Manila. “Let us not focus on the disability, but on the ability. With the help of technology, our SNED students can access wider opportunities in the future.”

Amcy M. Esteban, Education Program Supervisor – Kindergarten and Special Education, DepEd Schools Division Office of Manila

The training was held as part of Manila’s 69th Special Needs Education Week and was led by trainers from ATRIEV, many of whom have disabilities themselves. Their experience, ATRIEV said, helps ensure the tools are introduced in ways that feel intuitive to young learners.

“As someone with visual impairment, I am familiar with the challenges experienced by our students with disabilities,” said Nerikka Escario, Master Trainer 2, ATRIEV. “I can walk in their shoes and test how accessible the application is.”

The Android Accessibility Training is part of PLDT and Smart’s IDEATe (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Advocacy through Technology) program that uses technology to equip marginalized individuals with the necessary digital skills so they can access learning and livelihood opportunities. These efforts also underscore the PLDT Group’s commitment to helping the country achieve UNSDG 4 on Quality Education, UNSDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, and UNSDG 10 on Reduced Inequalities.

Award-winning product designer Andre Magracia brings Pinoy pride to New York

As a kid, Andre Magracia was always drawn to how products worked. The rotary phone, his lolo’s typewriter. He’d fidget with them just to see how they worked.

That restless curiosity eventually led him to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, where he graduated with a degree in industrial design. Passionate about basketball like a true Pinoy, his thesis centered on footwear specifically for street basketball in the Philippines.

During the pandemic, he pivoted to digital product design, but his industrial design background still shapes his work today. He completed his Master’s degree at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York.

Today, he is based in Brooklyn, leading product design at JUICE Creative Group. He’s worked on everything from online learning platforms for one of the largest U.S. universities to crypto gaming platforms, AI-driven tools, and restaurant websites.

His independent project, Sneakpeak, which will help sneakerheads track exclusive drops, has won multiple international awards for app design, including Gold at the MUSE Design Awards and Online Design Award, Silver at the NY Product Design Awards, Bronze at the A’ Design Award and Competition, and was named App of the Month by DesignRush.

    Andre Magracia

“I’m proud of where I come from and how much we Pinoys love sports, especially basketball,” Magracia said. “I hope Sneakpeak can help more sneakerheads everywhere find the perfect pair for their next pickup game.”

His approach to visual design carries echoes from home. Jeepneys are covered in hand-painted art: religious symbols, pop culture, personal tributes. As a kid, he just saw them as transportation, but looking back, he realizes they taught him that functional things can be full of character. Magracia tries to improve what exists without stripping away those stories.

That philosophy is evident throughout his work. For Taco Guy, a casual Mexican restaurant, he redesigned the website to capture the brand’s unconventional personality through organic shapes, hand-drawn fonts, and playful illustration. The site redesign won Gold at the W3 Awards and saw over three times more visitors compared to the previous version.

That mindset extends beyond his client work. Andre co-founded Liit Creative, an initiative with a fellow Filipina designer. Together they offer free workshops, toolkits, and mentorship to early-career creatives. He also mentors through Project Alpaca, a nonprofit supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds in tech.

“For a long time, I stripped a lot of identity out of my work to assimilate and appear more employable,” he admits. “Reconnecting with my own interests, culture, and storytelling has led to much stronger work, and that mindset now shapes both my design practice and how I mentor others.” From Brooklyn to the global design stage, Magracia continues to prove that bringing your full cultural identity to your work isn’t just authentic, it’s what makes great design unforgettable.

Wise shares smarter ways to shop online this holiday season

Wise, the global fintech company, shares game-changing hacks to help you shop smarter (not harder) this holiday season.

Let’s be real. Holiday shopping is stressful. Between finding the perfect gifts and dodging “sale” traps, your wallet takes a beating before you even realize it.

Good news? You don’t have to choose between generosity and financial survival.

Make a list, check it twice (then stick to it)

Before you dive into online shopping marathons, grab your phone and create a budget. Break it down: gifts, travel, decorations, outfits, and yes — treats for yourself. When you know exactly what you need and how much you can spend, impulse buys don’t stand a chance.

Always pay in the local currency

Shopping from international sites? The smartest move is to always pay in their local currency, not yours.

When a U.S site asks if you want to pay in pesos or dollars, choose dollars.

Here’s why: Letting merchants convert to pesos means paying a Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fee. Use a regular credit card, and you’ll also face foreign transaction fees. You end up paying extra for the “convenience” of seeing prices in pesos.

The numbers: A pair of sneakers worth USD120 could cost you PHP7,200 if you pay in PHP. Pay in USD using Wise’s mid-market rate (PHP58.88 per USD on December 3, 2025), and you’ll pay around PHP6,840. That’s PHP360 saved on a single purchase.

The Wise multi-currency card lets you hold and spend in 40+ currencies at the mid-market exchange rate, with no hidden markups.

Track exchange rates to maximize your money

Shopping regularly on international sites? Smart shoppers monitor exchange rates before converting their money.

If you frequently buy from U.S. stores, keep an eye on the PHP-to-USD exchange rate. When rates are favorable, convert your pesos to dollars and hold them in your Wise account. That way, you’re ready to shop without losing money to poor conversion rates.

Set up rate alerts on Wise to get notified when it’s the right time to convert – so your money goes further when you’re ready to buy.

    Tap, pay, and save abroad

Already overseas for the holidays? Wise is now on Google Pay (the first global non-bank in the Philippines to offer this!).

Just tap your Android phone or smartwatch to pay — no wallet-fumbling required. You’ll spend in local currency at the real exchange rate with zero foreign transaction fees. Fast, secure, and you’ll save like a local wherever you are.

To add a Wise card to Google Wallet and pay with Google Pay, customers can:

    1. Open the Wise app
    2. Tap the Card tab to view all available cards
    3. Select their card to add, then tap “Add to Google Pay.”

Ready to keep more of your money? Sign up for Wise now and start saving with mid-market exchange rates this holiday season.

TIEZA reinforces the legacy of Club Intramuros Golf Course as a premier sports tourism and heritage landmark

The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) proudly underscores its commitment to cultural preservation, sports tourism, and sustainable tourism development through its continued stewardship of the Club Intramuros Golf Course (CIGC)—one of the Philippines’ most historically significant recreational sites and a distinctive gem in the country’s golf tourism landscape.

Strategically located within the storied walls of Intramuros, the Club Intramuros Golf Course offers a rare combination of athletic pursuit and heritage immersion. Established in 1906 during the early American colonial period, the course is not simply a leisure amenity but a living mark of Manila’s layered history. Its manicured greens and fairways sit against the backdrop of Spanish-era fortifications, old watchtowers, and historic artillery—making it one of the few golf courses in the world built entirely within a preserved heritage district.

    Club Intramuros

More than a destination for golf enthusiasts, the Club Intramuros Golf Course plays a vital role in sustaining cultural identity and community vibrancy. It serves as a green lung within the capital’s historic center, a venue for sports tourism activities, and an iconic tourist spot that connects modern recreation with the Philippines’ colonial heritage.

A Testament to TIEZA’s Mandate to Protect, Preserve, and Promote Tourism Assets

As one of TIEZA’s managed properties, the Club Intramuros Golf Course exemplifies two of the agency’s four core mandates: (1) to develop and maintain quality tourism infrastructure, and (2) to preserve cultural and historical assets for future generations.

TIEZA’s dedication to the preservation of CIGC ensures that its historic significance is honored while continuing to meet standards for sports tourism facilities. Current efforts include heritage-sensitive landscaping, structural conservation, facility upgrades, drainage and irrigation improvements, and sustainability-focused maintenance work—each guided by the agency’s responsibility to balance preservation with modern tourism needs.

“TIEZA is committed to protecting tourism assets that reflect our cultural roots and elevate the Philippines as a global destination,” said TIEZA COO Mark T. Lapid. “The Club Intramuros Golf Course is a symbolic reminder of our past and a vibrant platform for sports tourism. Its continued preservation is made possible through the support of every Filipino traveler.”

Building Tourism Together: How Travel Tax Contributions Sustain CIGC

TIEZA emphasizes the collective power of Filipino travelers in shaping the country’s tourism landscape. A portion of travel tax collections directly supports the operations, upkeep, and preservation of tourism assets under TIEZA’s portfolio—including the Club Intramuros Golf Course—ensuring the continued protection of its historical structures and the improvement of its tourism facilities. This includes maintenance of the course’s fairways, greens, and heritage-sensitive landscaping, and upgrading of facilities such as lighting, safety features, and visitor amenities for year-round playability.

Every contribution made by travelers helps TIEZA sustain the CIGC as a safe, enjoyable, and historically significant site—allowing both local and foreign visitors to appreciate the unique experience of golfing within the centuries-old Walled City.

Strengthening Golf Tourism in the Philippines

As golf tourism continues to grow globally, the Club Intramuros Golf Course stands as one of the Philippines’ most strategic assets. Its central location, night golf offerings, rich heritage value, and picturesque setting make it a key attraction for international golfers and tour operators seeking distinctive, memorable experiences.

CIGC complements the country’s broader network of world-class golf courses, further positioning the Philippines as an emerging golf tourism hub in Asia. As part of TIEZA’s long-term tourism development roadmap, enhancements to the course are expected to support increased visitor arrivals, economic activity for Intramuros and nearby communities, and wider recognition of Manila as a historic yet dynamic destination.

A Living Heritage, Sustained by Collective Support

With its blend of history, heritage, and sport, the Club Intramuros Golf Course represents a triumph of cultural preservation and tourism development. Its continued protection is a shared responsibility—made possible through TIEZA’s stewardship, the support of the Department of Tourism, the involvement of the Intramuros Administration, and the contributions of Filipino travelers through the travel tax.

Recently, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized his vision for the revitalization and sustainability of Manila City landmarks and centers.  TIEZA supports this direction and recently launched the “Sundays at Club Intramuros” initiative to give the community an opportunity to enjoy non-golf activities, such as walking, jogging, light exercise, and small-group picnics within the historic Intramuros walls.

As TIEZA advances its mission of Building Tourism Together, CIGC remains a powerful reminder that preserving the country’s past is essential to shaping a stronger, more vibrant tourism future.

Anker SOLIX C300 DC powers households through outages and emergencies

The Philippines faces some of the world’s most frequent outages, caused by typhoons, heavy rains, and sudden power grid failures. When electricity cuts out without warning, homes can lose access to lighting, communication, essential devices, and even the everyday comforts families rely on.

When the lights go out, the Anker SOLIX C300 DC provides steady, reliable backup power, helping Filipino households stay connected and prepared through any interruption. It functions as a modern emergency kit—portable, dependable, and built for today’s unpredictable conditions.

    Designed for Life’s Unpredictable Outages

Compact, ultra-safe, and built for rapid charging, the Anker SOLIX C300 DC gives households a dependable source of power during sudden blackouts, weather-related disruptions, and emergencies.

With a 288Wh battery and up to 300W of output, the high-capacity backup power device supports the essential electronics families rely on when the grid becomes unstable, including phones, Wi-Fi routers, LED lamps, small fans, and other household devices that help maintain basic routines.

    SOLIX C300
    1. Lightweight, Ultra-Portable Build

Though light, the Anker SOLIX C300 DC delivers the functions needed for dependable use during outages. With a vertical layout that makes it 30% more space-efficient than industry-standard power stations and a weight of just 6.18lbs, the device remains easy to move and store. An optional attachable carrying strap also supports quick, grab-and-go mobility.

    1. Versatile 7-Port Layout

The Anker SOLIX C300 DC features a seven-port layout that allows households to power multiple essentials at once. It includes a 120W car socket, two 140W USB-C PD 3.1 ports for ultra-fast two-way charging, a 100W USB-C port, a 15W USB-C port, and two 12W USB-A ports, offering flexibility for a wide range of electronics.

    1. Battery Technology

Powered by a 288Wh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery rated at 90,000 mAh, the Anker SOLIX C300 DC uses a safer, more stable chemistry similar to the batteries used in electric and hybrid vehicles. It can be charged fully to 100% without accelerating battery wear, ensuring consistent performance over time. This reserve supports more than 20 smartphone charges, three to four laptop charges, and several hours of use for essential electronics during outages.

The device restores power quickly, reaching up to 80% in about one hour through its dual 140W USB-C PD 3.1 ports. Charging remains flexible during longer disruptions, with support for 100W solar input using compatible Anker 100W or 60W panels (not compatible with PS30, PS200, or PS400) and car charging for mobile or evacuation scenarios.

    1. Built-In LED Light

Formerly a ship captain, Rivera is now at the helm of Nano ProTech, a company redefining how science and technology can protect and enhance everyday living. Alongside two of his most trusted officers—Arjean Reyes, COO and VP for administration and finance, and Jit Enano, EVP for business development & marketing—Rivera leads a dynamic team determined to bring innovation closer to every Filipino home and community, empowering lives through nature-inspired innovation, advanced technology, and science-driven solutions.

This shared leadership was on full display during the special media event themed “See the World in Style, Shielded by Science” held at Nano ProTech’s headquarters in Mandaluyong City. The event unveiled the company’s latest innovation, the Nano ProTech Eyewear Line, and gave a glimpse of its first anniversary celebration this December, aptly titled “Breakthrough 1.0: The Nano ProTech Anniversary.”

    Nano ProTech

Designed for today’s fast-paced and visually demanding world, the Nano ProTech Eyewear Line showcases how science and style can seamlessly come together. Each pair fuses advanced nanotechnology and natural components embedded in the frame—including Germanium Stones, Negative Ions, Far Infrared (FIR), Silver Ions, and Multi-minerals. Working in synergy, these elements create a subtle natural interaction that promotes balance, comfort, and a relaxing wearing experience.

“We believe innovation should empower everyday living,” said Rivera. “Our mission has always been to make advanced science accessible and meaningful—integrating protective technology into the products people use every day.”

Much like a well-coordinated crew, Rivera, Reyes, and Enano each play vital roles in navigating Nano ProTech toward growth and excellence. Reyes oversees the company’s operations, ensuring its systems run efficiently and sustainably, while Enano drives business expansion and nurtures strategic partnerships. Together, they steer Nano ProTech toward a future where protection is not only smart but also stylish, practical, and people-centered.

The eyewear line is just one of the many innovations in Nano ProTech’s expanding portfolio. Since its founding, the company has been pioneering products that embody its philosophy of smart protection through science. Beyond eyewear, its proprietary Nano ProTech technology powers an ecosystem of solutions designed to protect, preserve, and perform. Each product reflects the brand’s dedication to research, innovation, and its goal of enhancing modern living through technology.

As Nano ProTech celebrates Breakthrough 1.0, the company marks a year of milestones, partnerships, and achievements that have established it as a trusted name in nano-protection. The celebration kicked off with “Beats of Hope: Music for a Cause” held last November 7, 2025, at their Mandaluyong headquarters. The company turned passion into compassion by directing proceeds from the concert to fund its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“With Breakthrough 1.0, we want to highlight not just how far we’ve come, but how much further innovation can take us,” said Enano. “This is just the beginning of our journey to make protection smarter, sleeker, and more sustainable.”

Guided by Rivera’s steady leadership, Reyes’ strategic management, and Enano’s forward-thinking vision, Nano ProTech continues to chart new territories in protection technology—proving that with science, style, and synergy, every breakthrough brings us closer to a safer, smarter world.

DTI launches Bagong Pilipinas MSME Hub, a national showcase advancing  Filipino creativity and enterprise

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) formally launched the Bagong  Pilipinas MSME Hub on 4 December 2025 at the Ground Floor of the DTI Filinvest  Building in Makati City. The flagship Hub marks a major milestone in the  government’s broader strategy to strengthen the country’s MSME ecosystem  through enhanced innovation, wider market access, and deeper integration into  national value chains.

The event gathered leaders from government, industry champions, regional MSME  representatives, development partners, and supporters of Filipino enterprise—signaling the Hub’s importance as a long-term platform for promoting regional  products and building a more resilient, competitive MSME sector.

A New Gateway For MSMEs To Accees High-value and Urban Markets

For many regional MSMEs, the journey into mainstream retail has long been  hindered by high operational costs, limited networks, and barriers to entering high density commercial districts. The MSME Hub addresses these challenges by  offering entrepreneurs a premium, permanent retail space where they can  showcase products, observe real-time market behavior, and refine strategies  based on credible retail performance.

By enabling MSMEs to access Makati’s vibrant commercial ecosystem, the Hub  becomes a testing ground for product improvement, a venue for brand elevation,  and a stepping stone toward partnerships with institutional buyers and premium  retailers. This structured access is complemented by reliable reporting systems  and sales visibility—giving MSMEs clearer insights for production planning, pricing,  and supply management.

A Curated Expereince That Elevates Filipino Craftsmanship

Guests at the launch explored the Hub’s 300-square-meter space, thoughtfully designed to highlight Filipino creativity and innovation. The store features well-curated sections—ranging from apparel and accessories to home décor, artworks,  Halal-certified goods, coconut innovations, and specialty food products. Every display celebrates the craftsmanship behind the regions and communities represented.

Lighting, textures, and visual storytelling bring each product category to life,  enabling visitors to appreciate how Filipino MSMEs have significantly leveled up through DTI’s trade fairs, design interventions, and upskilling programs. With each collection, the Hub demonstrates the depth of cultural identity, artistry, and entrepreneurial excellence found across the country.

A Café Experience That Complements The Creative Retail Journey

The launch also highlighted Auro Café, a homegrown Filipino brand offering locally inspired food and beverages sourced from farming communities. The café transforms the Hub into a destination where visitors can linger, connect, and engage more meaningfully with the stories behind the products.

This hospitality element reinforces the Hub’s role as both a market access platform and a community space that nurtures collaboration and conversation.

TATAK PINOY, MSME DEVELOPMENT, AND THE ROAD AHEAD

Assistant Secretary Nylah Bautista shared: “The MSME Hub embodies the Tatak Pinoy Strategy—strengthening our ability to produce, create, and innovate globally competitive Filipino products. This space is not just a store; it is part of a larger ecosystem that supports our MSMEs through digitalization, diversification, and continuous mentoring. As we scale the Hub model across the regions and integrate  it with the OTOP Hub network, we ensure that more Filipino enterprises gain the  visibility, structure, and support they need to thrive in a modern economy.”

A Scalable Model For National Rollout

The MSME Hub will evolve throughout the year with rotating showcases, regional  spotlights, and thematic features—ensuring more involvement of MSMEs nationwide. The concept is designed to be replicable and scalable, enabling DTI to bring similar market-access platforms to more regions while merging it with the strengthened OTOP Hub implementation.

    Now Open To The Public

The DTI Bagong Pilipinas MSME Hub is now open Mondays to Fridays, 7:00 AM  to 7:00 PM. Visitors are invited to explore the space, enjoy Auro Café, and discover exceptional products crafted by Filipino entrepreneurs. Every visit supports the  livelihoods behind these enterprises and helps strengthen an MSME sector vital to  the nation’s long-term prosperity.

Pag-IBIG Fund assists 3.2 million members through cash loans in Jan-Oct, up 28%

Pag-IBIG Fund helped 3.2 million Filipino workers meet their immediate financial needs through its short-term loan (STL) programs from January to October 2025, marking a 28% increase in borrowers compared to the same period last year, officials announced on Monday, Dec 1.

Officials said more members are turning to Pag-IBIG Fund for fast and affordable financial assistance during urgent moments in their lives, especially now that loan applications can be filed easily through Virtual Pag-IBIG, giving members convenient access anytime and anywhere.

Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary and Pag-IBIG Fund Board Chairperson Jose Ramon P. Aliling said the growing number of assisted members reflects the agency’s commitment to delivering responsive and dependable public service in line with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

“Pag-IBIG Fund’s strong performance in extending Short-Term Loans reflects its proven dependability in providing Filipino workers with immediate financial assistance when they need it most,” Aliling said. “These gains reflect our resolve to fulfill President Marcos’ vision of a government that delivers timely and dependable support. Pag-IBIG remains committed to providing financial assistance that is affordable, accessible, and firmly grounded in our mandate to serve the Filipino worker with excellence.”

Of the 3.2 million members assisted, 2.74 million availed of the Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL) to cover school expenses, medical bills, livelihood capital, home repairs, and other essential needs. Another 535,546 members benefited from the Calamity Loan, enabling families to rebuild after typhoons, floods, and other disasters.

Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene C. Acosta expressed gratitude for the sustained trust of Filipino workers. She noted that earlier this year, the agency increased the loanable amount under its STL Programs, allowing members to borrow up to 90% of their Pag-IBIG Regular Savings, which consist of their monthly contributions, their employer counterpart share, and the annual dividends earned.

“We recognize that our short-term loans continue to support millions of our members during life’s most urgent moments,” Acosta said. “Every day, we see parents covering school expenses, workers paying medical bills, and members sustaining their livelihoods because Pag-IBIG is here for them. That is why we work hard to ensure that our loans are easy to apply for, are processed quickly, and are conveniently released through the Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus. Members can even apply through Virtual Pag-IBIG, making the process more accessible and hassle-free.”

Acosta added that the earnings from STL programs directly benefit members, because a major portion of the interest income is returned to them as annual dividends on their Pag-IBIG Regular Savings and MP2 Savings accounts.

Grab reaffirms commitment to service accessibility amid holiday demand peak

Grab Philippines has reiterated its commitment to keeping ride-hailing and food delivery services accessible this holiday season, banking on strategic partnerships and carpooling services like Grab Group Rides to mitigate the supply crunch driven by the sharp increase in demand.

Grab data indicates that current traffic congestion is prolonging the completion of ride-hailing trips by an average of 20 to 25% during peak hours, affecting the number of trips a TNVS driver can complete daily. This congestion, compounded by a projected 36 percent spike in fourth-quarter demand for ride-hailing services, is placing strain on the overall supply of TNVS vehicles on the road.

To address these pressures, Grab is working with New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) — the private consortium operating Ninoy Aquino International Airport — to ease pick-up bottlenecks at key terminals as airports remain a demand hotspot amid surging arrivals; while also coordinating with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the LTFRB to ensure the availability of ride-hailing options this season.

Grab Philippines managing director Ronald Roda shares, “This holiday season will be a challenge, as in previous years. We are facing a slew of macroeconomic factors, from an uptick in holiday demand that challenges the supply of vehicles to the traffic conditions of the metro. There will be moments when getting a ride feels harder than usual, but we promise to do our absolute best to be better than last year. We have been preparing since the start of the year to ensure our services remain accessible enough to help every Filipino make their holiday celebration complete.”

Leveraging on Shuttle Rides and Carpool Services to Support Transport Demand

A cornerstone of this strategic focus on reliability is a strengthened partnership with NNIC. With year-to-date data showing a jump of more than 30% in ride-hailing demand at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Grab is stepping in to directly manage foot traffic and decongest the arrivals population in the airport.

The leading superapp will deploy free airport shuttle rides during critical windows when travellers are finding it difficult to book a Grab ride, specifically between 4:00 PM and 1:00 AM. Operating across three key holiday weekends — December 5-8, 12-16, and 19-22 — the shuttles will run from Fridays to Mondays, and Tuesday for the second week, moving passengers from NAIA Terminal 3 to the One Ayala public transport terminal. This ensures that even when most ride-hailing drivers are fully utilized, passengers can still access the city’s mass transit network.

NNIC general manager Angelito Alvarez highlighted the importance of the shuttle initiative with Grab: “We have been working to make airport operations more efficient, especially now that the holidays bring in so many travelers. That’s why we appreciate Grab stepping in to help further strengthen our transport options. The rush can make it harder to get a ride, so having more reliable choices really helps. Little things like this make a big difference when the airport is at its busiest.” Grab also recently improved its 24-hour concierge at NAIA Terminal 3 to accommodate more passengers in need of assistance in booking a GrabCar.

Grab also piloted its shared ride program “Sabay Sakay” in partnership with the DOTr ahead of the spike in holiday demand for transport options. The scheduled carpooling service targets routes covering key business districts, starting with the Pasig-Makati and Pasig-BGC corridors. By using on-ground concierges to consolidate bookings, the initiative increases seat utilization where standard ride availability is low.

    Maximizing Vehicles with Group Rides

Grab is also turning to its suite of tech features to boost maximum efficiency out of the existing fleet. To mitigate the strain on the available supply of ride-hailing vehicles, the leading superapp is banking on its “Group Rides” feature to maximize fleet efficiency. Grab Group Rides allows a host to share a link with up to three passengers, enabling them to input their individual pick-up or drop-off points as they depart or arrive together in a singular GrabCar.

Grab’s mapping algorithms then generate the most efficient route to connect all locations. By consolidating these multi-stop journeys, the feature significantly maximizes existing vehicles on the road and boosts driver productivity, ensuring that the limited fleet can serve a higher volume of passengers despite the holiday congestion.

On the delivery front, the introduction of Party Platters addresses the logistical complexity of holiday feasting. The feature allows consumers to secure deals on large bulk orders, while the backend technology seamlessly distributes these massive orders across multiple delivery riders. This ensures smooth fulfillment without overwhelming individual drivers, maintaining service reliability even as food delivery demand peaks alongside transport needs.

    A Driver-Led Holiday Service

Grab continues to put a premium on supporting its driver-partners, especially during a season of heavier traffic. To help them navigate this period confidently, the platform has strengthened its focus on driver decorum through refresher modules on the in-app learning platform Grab Academy. This is to help ensure standards on ride fulfillment, passenger handling, and maintaining safe, respectful spaces. These efforts highlight Grab’s commitment to empowering partners to consistently deliver quality service.
