Blue and Purple. Yahoo! Philippines and ANC proclaimed their partnership with the ceremonial release of blue and purple balloons into the sky.
Yahoo! Philippines announces its collaboration with local news channel ANC to enable both entities to expand their platforms with a content-sharing partnership.
The partnership gives ANC its own section in the Yahoo! Philippines News site, www.anc.yahoo.com. The portal serves as a repository for news articles and multimedia content such as photos and videos.
The ANC portal will have its own editorial staff, headed by Alcuin Papa as managing editor, for the production and publishing of news articles on the site. ANC’s program schedule, Tweets from @ANCALERTS, and videos of exclusive interviews and news reports originally broadcasted on ANC are also available on the portal.
Yahoo! Philippines claims that the collaboration is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, modeled after the Yahoo’s partnerships in the US.
“This is truly an exciting milestone for both ANC and Yahoo!,” said Yahoo! Philippines Country Manager and Country Editor Kate Delos Reyes. She added, “This partnership is a true online and on-air collaboration that aims to reinvent how consumers access news across screens. It will enable us to bring together cutting-edge development in news creation and delivery by combining ANC’s top-class journalism with Yahoo!’s enormous scale and technology.”
Yahoo! Philippines Country Manager and Country Editor Kate Delos Reyes
Delos Reyes explained that this collaboration is Yahoo!’s first partnership with a media organization in Southeast Asia and outside of the USA, where they have established a similar news content partnership with ABC News. According to Delos Reyes, Yahoo! Philippines has a daily average user base of 2.1 million users, and their partnership with ANC is a way for them to grow that base here in the Philippines.
ANC Managing Director and Head of ABS-CBN News & Current Affairs Ging Reyes
Said Ging Reyes, ANC Managing Director and Head of ABS-CBN News & Current Affairs, “We are confident that our collaboration with Yahoo! will usher in a new era in Philippine media—one that seeds professional organizations like ours, breaking down walls, to bring quality content to multiple screens, to keep the public well-informed. ANC Chief Operating Officer Cilette Liboro-Co commented, “With Yahoo! Philippines as our digital hub, we will be able to bring ANC’s expertise in news delivery and analysis to a wider audience.”
The collaboration between Yahoo! Philippines and ANC will be marked by a joint coverage of the 2013 State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Benigno Aquino III, which will stream live both online through the Yahoo! Philippines News site and on-air through ANC, Monday, 22 July 2013.
