Christmas shoppers may now get the best deal this coming Yuletide season!
Globe’s virtual wallet service subsidiary, Gcash, adds Robinsons Supermarket and Department Store (Galleria branch) to its list of partner merchants that accept the latest QR payment system.
GCash’s “scan-to-pay” feature allows customers to use their smartphones for completing a cashless transaction by scanning the QR code of the partner store through the user-friendly mobile app. It basically enables clients to pay and monitor their transactions using their GCash account.
“Before, you need a POS or a reader for the QR code or the credit card. Today, we eliminate all that. We just give a sticker with a QR code, and that’s all the merchant needs. With everybody getting a smartphone eventually it will become the driver,” says Anthony Thomas, the President and CEO of Mynt which operates GCash.
The partnership also covers the mall chain’s fashion stores such as Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Warehouse and G2000 in Robinsons Galleria.
“Robinsons Specialty Stores, Inc. (RSSI) is thrilled to be part of the GCash community. As the retail industry goes more digital, we want to adapt to changes by allowing digital payments through smartphones in a safe and efficient way. We look forward to make this facility available across all RSSI stores to cater to our customers better” said Carmina Quizon, the General Manager of Robinsons Specialty Stores Inc.
With over 12,000 GCash partner outlets nationwide, beating the holiday rush is now made possible. Among famous merchants which embraced the QR scanning as mode of payment include Max’s Group, Bench and SSI. Small and medium enterprises in Noel Bazaar and Mercato Centrale have also adopted the new technology.
