WIKO, a brand-new smartphone brand from France, has grabbed Filipinos’ attention with affordable smartphones mixed with a French aesthetic. Recently launched is the WIKO 10, a budget-friendly smartphone with a 50-megapixel shooter.

    Design: 4/5

Our review unit came in the brand’s own Klein Blue, an homage to French artist Yves Klein, known for his use of the color blue. To be honest, I like the color, which is a darker shade of blue. The finish at the back adds a bit of subtle reflection.

The WIKO 10 has a 6.74-inch HD+ (1600 x 720) display that is larger than most phones in its class. On the display is the front 8-megapixel camera. At the back is the phone’s main triple camera setup. On the right of the phone are the volume rockers and a power button that doubles as the fingerprint reader. On the left is the sim card and microSD card slot. The USB-C charging port, the speaker, and the 3.5mm headphone port are on the bottom.

    Hardware: 4/5

Powering the WIKO 10 is a Helios MediaTek G37 processor. Our review unit had 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is one of the few phones that offer 6GB of RAM in its price range.

Performance-wise, the WIKO 10 isn’t a powerful device, but it gets the job done. For gaming, it can run esports titles like League of Legends: Wild Rift and Call of Duty: Mobile on low to medium settings. However, heavier games like Genshin Impact are not suited for this device.

Going to the cameras, the primary shooter at the back is a 50-megapixel; there’s also a 2-megapixel macro and a 2-megapixel depth camera to help in portrait mode. Images from the camera come out all right. When shooting outside, it produces sharp images. Low-light pictures are soft but still usable.

Battery-wise, the WIKO 10 has a 5000mAh battery, which lasted me a day and a half of moderate use consisting of messages during the day and a couple of hours of Netflix at night. If you do run out, the included 22.5W fast charger can juice up the device in around 2 hours. Also, if you’re using the WIKO 10 as a secondary phone, it offers reverse charging so you can juice up your other devices.

    User Experience: 4/5

One of the things that surprised me with the WIKO 10 is the stock Android experience. This makes the phone feel a bit faster, plus there is no bloatware occupying additional space.

The WIKO 10 isn’t meant to be the fastest phone out there. The Helios G37 is not made for gaming, but its 6GB RAM compensates for this as it can have more apps than phones with faster processors.

Another plus for the WIKO 10 is media consumption. The bigger display allows you to see more. The speakers are also surprisingly good — loud enough to fill a small room while not sounding like a can. You can also use the headphone jack for even better audio quality.

    Value: 4/5

Coming in at PHP8,990, the WIKO 10 is one of the cheaper smartphones in the market. With its great looks, 6GB RAM, and stock Android, it is a deal for someone looking for a sub-10K smartphone.
