TechnologyGamingSM Tech & Play Month brings gaming, creators, and fandoms together

The month-long campaign connected gamers, PC builders, content creators, collectors, cosplayers, and hobbyists through activities across participating SM Supermalls nationwide.

SM Supermalls brought different tech and hobby communities together during Tech & Play Month, held from August 1 to 31, 2026, at participating malls nationwide.

The month-long campaign gave gamers, tech enthusiasts, content creators, collectors, cosplayers, and hobbyists spaces to compete, create, explore new technology, and connect with people who share similar interests. Activities were organized through Cyberzone and the broader #TechWeLikeZoneWeLove campaign.

Gaming and PC building take center stage

For gamers, the Players Collective featured tournaments where participants could test their skills, while casual players explored peripherals and accessories available through Cyberzone.

The Builders Society brought together PC enthusiasts, gamers, and work-from-home users to exchange ideas about building and upgrading setups. Through Cyberzone’s authorized retailers, participants could also explore hardware and software options under the Tech-Assured Shopping program.

The activities reflected how gaming and PC building have become communities in their own right, extending beyond the products themselves into shared knowledge, competition, and customization.

Creators explore the tools behind their work

PC builders and gamers exchanged ideas about hardware, upgrades, and custom setups.

Content creators also had their own community through Creators United.

Lifestyle, travel, gadget, and food vloggers shared how they use technology in their work, while participants were able to try cameras, audio equipment, and other content-creation tools.

The format gave aspiring creators a closer look at the equipment behind online content while also creating opportunities to exchange ideas with people already working across different creator niches.

Collectors, cosplayers, and hobbyists find their crowd

RC car enthusiasts were among the communities featured during the nationwide campaign.

The Collectors Club extended Tech & Play Month beyond gadgets and gaming.

Trading card collectors, toy enthusiasts, cosplayers, pop culture fans, and other hobbyists came together to share collections, join activities, and meet people with similar interests. The campaign also gave newcomers a chance to discover hobbies and communities they might not otherwise encounter.

This broader mix made the event less about one specific category and more about the way technology increasingly connects entertainment, collecting, creativity, and social communities.

Cyberzone as a discovery space

Cyberzone served as one of the main destinations throughout the month, giving shoppers access to gadgets and technology from participating brands and authorized retailers.

Visitors could compare products and ask for advice through Tech-Assured Shopping, whether they were looking to upgrade a gaming setup, build a PC, create content, or find technology for a hobby.

The activities also showed how mall spaces can support interest-based communities beyond retail alone. Tech & Play Month gave people a place to meet, join activities, and spend time around the hobbies and technologies they enjoy.
