Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) led by its Fintech Group and partners, the Distributed Ledger Technology Association of the Philippines (DLTAP), Fintech Philippines Association (FPh), Ushare, and Tech Up Pilipinas organized a Mobile Legends Charity Clash Tournament which will benefit charities with COVID-19 relief programs including Caritas Manila.
The ULeague: Charity Clash Tournament is an online inter-company mobile game competition featuring the popular game Mobile Legends. Round 1 of the tournament kicked off on June 10-11, 2020; succeeding rounds will be held in the coming weeks.
The first round featured eSports teams of UnionBank partners and sister companies including top fintechs in the country such as DragonPay, Salarium, PeraHub, Philippine Digital Assets Exchange (PDAX), and Coins.ph as well as UnionBank and its subsidiaries UBX, PeraHub and CitySavings Bank.
“We launched our own internal esports tournament early this year as an avenue to foster community and engagement in UnionBank through gaming,” said UnionBank senior vice president and head of the fintech group Arvie de Vera. “With the Charity Clash Tournament, we want to build the same community through gaming in the fintech industry, and advocate our value of Ubuntu as we support organizations like Caritas Manila that continue to help out our kababayans during this time of need.”
All participating teams have pledged a donation which will all go towards Caritas Manila to support its ongoing COVID-19 relief activities. Moreover, viewers of the livestream are also encouraged to donate to the organization.
The winner of each round of the ULeague Charity Clash Tournament will receive a cash prize of PHP 10,000 and a spot to compete in the Grand Championship.
