TechnologyHIMEL SHOWCASES X SERIES DRIVES FOR BUILDING AND INDUSTRIAL CONTROL

In a high-rise building, a water pump may need to respond to changing demand throughout the day. On a production line, a motor may face repeated starts and load shifts. These different operating requirements were among the applications Himel highlighted at MARVEX 2026, an ASEAN exhibition for the HVAC&R industry held alongside ENGINEER in Kuala Lumpur from September 22 to 25.

At the regional exhibition, Himel presented its new X Series variable speed drives alongside a wider portfolio of electrical products for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The company used the event to demonstrate how motor control, protection, automation, and power distribution can be considered as part of a broader system rather than as isolated components.

X SERIES TARGETS HVAC AND INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

The display brought together X Series drives, smart relay controllers, Energy Management & Building Automation systems, industrial control components, low-voltage power distribution, and final distribution products.

In building and industrial environments, variable speed drives typically operate as part of a wider control sequence involving sensors, protection devices, automation, and power supply. Himel positioned the X Series around that broader integration, with applications relevant to high-rise buildings, manufacturing, and food-and-beverage facilities in markets such as the Philippines.

HAVXP SERIES FOR FANS AND PUMPS

For HVAC systems, fans, and pumps, the HAVXP Series covers power ratings from 0.75kW to 800kW and includes built-in PID control, multi-pump operation, and master-slave functions.

In a high-rise water system, for example, pressure feedback can be used to guide a booster pump as demand changes. In PFC/SPFC mode, one drive can control up to four pumps, while Intelligent Pump Control mode can accommodate up to eight drives and pumps.

Automatic changeover and bypass modes provide additional options for planning pump rotation and supporting water-service continuity. The most appropriate configuration depends on the requirements of the project.

For air-handling fans, the control task centers on responding to changing airflow requirements.

HAVXH SERIES FOR INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY

The HAVXH Series is rated from 0.4kW to 710kW and is designed for general industrial machinery.

It supports V/F, open-loop vector, and closed-loop vector control, with suitable feedback required for closed-loop operation. The drive also supports up to 16 speed stages per cycle, making it suitable for machinery with repeated operating sequences.

The range gives system designers flexibility to match control strategies with different types of industrial equipment and process requirements.

PROTECTION FOR DEMANDING OPERATING CONDITIONS

At normal-duty rating, both X Series families support 120% overload for one minute and 150% for three seconds.

Protection functions include over-voltage, over-current, overload, and motor-overheating protection. Coated circuit boards, dust shielding, and redesigned cooling channels are intended to support operation in more demanding environments.

These measures are designed to help protect both the drive and the connected motor while supporting more consistent operation under changing loads.

SOFTWARE SUPPORTS COMMISSIONING AND DIAGNOSTICS

The X Series also extends into commissioning and maintenance through Himel’s X Studio software.

X Studio supports offline parameter configuration as well as live monitoring of current, voltage, and frequency. It also includes fault diagnosis tools, with a fault-code library and diagnostic reports that can give maintenance teams a documented starting point when an alarm occurs.

This approach is intended to make setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting more systematic throughout the life of the installation.

CONNECTIVITY FOR BUILDING AND PLANT SYSTEMS

Both building and industrial installations increasingly depend on data exchange between equipment and wider control systems.

The X Series includes built-in RS485/Modbus RTU connectivity, with optional cards supporting protocols including Modbus TCP, Profinet, BACnet, and EtherCAT. Available communication options depend on the selected configuration.

These connections allow drives to exchange data with building-management or plant-control systems, while Himel smart relays and Energy Management & Building Automation solutions can handle additional control and energy-management functions within the overall design.

BRINGING CONTROL AND ENERGY MANAGEMENT TOGETHER

“Himel brings together a complete control solution, connecting essential control and protection devices with variable speed drives, smart automation and building energy management,” said Xiaoyu Shen, offer marketing, offer group manager at Himel.

“By bringing these technologies together, we help customers achieve smarter control, greater visibility and better energy efficiency across their operations. That’s I Love Control in action.”

The positioning reflects Himel’s broader approach of combining motor control with protection, automation, and energy-management technologies rather than treating each component as a standalone solution.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE PHILIPPINE MARKET

In the Philippines, high-rise buildings, manufacturing plants, and food-and-beverage facilities present different motor-control requirements.

Beyond its MARVEX 2026 showcase, Himel says it will continue supporting distributors, consultants, partners, and customers with application knowledge, technical support, and electrical products aimed at building and industrial projects.

Founded in Spain in 1958, Himel now supplies electrical products in more than 60 countries, with a portfolio covering power distribution, motor control and protection, industrial components, and home electrical solutions.
